Cozumel: Will Fantasy go there if/when 7 night resumes?

We're almost in September. Fantasy is close to sail with paid customers. Most of October and onwards 7-night Fantasy sailings include Cozumel.
Cozumel have zero restrictions right now. No vax requirement, or tests.
We have friends there that have told us masks are encouraged but optional everywhere, social distancing is minimal.

Several ships are already stopping there. I've read there's like 3-5 ships docking weekly.

With DCL being extremely cautious and having all kinds of restrictions onboard and pre-boarding...

Will DCL stop there when 7-night sailings resume?
What do you think? - I really miss Cozumel but I'm kinda worried the island is basically free of restrictions.

With the vaccine requirements they are allowed to port in Nassau but are skipping due to business risk.

I won't be surprised if we see similar decisions for a port like Cozumel, if not more so.

Bigger question is when will Disney even start 7 day cruises again. This question about Cozumel is about 3rd or 4th in line before an answer is given.

You're right. But it's why I said if/when. What happens in Nov if (big if) 7 nights resume?

I agree. but what happens in a 7 night scenario? (*if* they resume) ..if no Cozumel, no Nassau and certainly not GC
5 sea days? that's going to appeal to some but also many will be discouraged to keep their bookings.

I will be surprised to see 7-night sailings before January.

Its just 100% random speculation though at this point of random ideas like back in March people talking about what DCL would do to restart.

They also haven't sailed a single fully vaccinated cruise yet in the US, visited any foreign port, or been to Mexico. Heck its not even guaranteed the Magic returns from Europe to the US imo. As time goes by those questions will slowly be answered.

The Cozumel question will have to be answered for the less-than-seven-days cruises out of Galveston that are coming up before too much longer.

To put this context we have (might be missing something):
  1. Will DCL require testing for all to be in line with CDC (Sept 13 "deadline")
  2. Wonder requirements out of California (Sept 24 "deadline")
  3. Will longer sailings resume or keep getting pushed (Oct 1 "deadline" - Wonder out of Cali and Oct 9 Fantasy)
  4. Will the Magic come back to the US, will it need to quarantine or do test sailings, what will US requirements look like for the ship (Oct 24 "deadline")
  5. Will vaccines continue to be required (Nov 1 "deadline")
  6. Will the Wonder go through the Panama Canal this fall again and will it have passengers (Nov 5 "deadline")
  7. What will Galveston look like (Nov 19 + 20 "deadline" for Wonder + Magic)
Also sub sections could be things like will Disney go to X country or will Disney go to Key West even if they are only doing Castaway sailings still.

Don't be putting any nasty thoughts out there about the Wonder not sailing from Galveston this season! That's the only thing that's kept me going this long! :cutie:

You are going to want to hit up the San Diego thread because talks are the EBPC cruise is possibly being cancelled.

There's only one report of someone getting a cancellation email. And it seems that it's specific to them. They have linked reservations with another party, and that party's reservation is still visible.

There are lots of 5- to 7-night cruises currently visiting Cozumel. It's the easiest port to visit when it comes to entry requirements. Costa Maya being another. Cancun and the entire Riviera Maya have managed the COVID-era tourism very well.

Expect Grand Cayman to be nixed though.

As for the 7-nighters, they will have to get them going before the big holiday cruises. Some of those December cruises are rolling in more than $5K per person. Stripping them down to anything shorter will offload a ton of FCC back on the docket.

They are going to lose a lot of revenue (and create many unhappy customers) if they do not sail 7-night holiday cruises for Christmas and New Year (both of which we are booked on).

Except FCC is loaded as a OBC isn't it? Additionally how much of Dec '21 was booked post 125% FCC?
You can use your FCC to book full fares (not only OBC). I would say most of Dec 21 was paid with FCC since the release was after the cruising shutdown. But if that FCC has to be recycled, they will have to extend the 'use by' window. Which will take out the Dec 22 holiday sailings.

Yeah GC is out for the year, and probably a good part of 2022, if not all of.
Costa Maya isn't on any future DCL sailings, afaik. (too bad bc CM is lovely)

I wonder if DCL will decide to stop there when their 7 nights resume.. and how they'll handle it...provided Cozumel doesn't require vax or testing...
Reading the covid news in Mexico, Quintana Roo (state where Cozumel is) has a real low vaccination rate compared to the rest of the country.
