cozumel/tulum ruins vs. cozumel ruins-beach tour

me and my hubby would like to know what the difference is and did any one prefer either or? what did you like or dislike?

We did the Tulum ruins tour last summer. It is a full day with a 45 minute boat ride to the mainland and an hour bus ride to the ruins. You get about an hour guided tour at the ruins and then about an hour to either explore the ruins on your own or visit the beach that is located at the bottom of the ruins. You then have the bus and boat rides back to the ship. We arrived back between 4:30 and 5PM and we left around 9AM. I believe the ruins/beach tour is shorter and goes to a different site.

We enjoyed the tour, but we are not the adventuresome types. I wanted to go to see the ruins as I have a degree in history and wanted to see the ruins and have DS 11 and 14 experience the history of Mexico. Some people want to be on the go all of the time on vacation, this is not that type. This tour although long is not hard to do.
