Cozumel Beach Break - Please comment

Since Sarah is only going to be 21 months old on our next cruise in November we are limited in our excursion options. We really enjoyed our beach excursion on Puerto Rico last year and are thinking of doing something similar in Cozumel. It says below that it is 5 or so hours. We were curious how you get to the beach and when do you leave and get back to the ship.

I have also been looking at the Cozumel beaches for our upcoming trip. Instead of booking an excursion through Disney, you could just hail a taxi to get to Playa Mia. The admission is only $12.00 per person. (The baby may even be free.) There are also several other great family beach options in Cozumel, many of which are free.

Use a search engine such as Goggle and type in "Cozumel Beaches." The first hit has an interactive map of all of the beaches on the island.

If you did the beach break on your own, you would not be tied down to a 5 hour excursion if the baby had enough sun after 2 hours. From what I read on the map, taxis are available for return trips to the pier whenever you want to leave. I believe the taxi will run around $20.00 each way.

Just a suggestion, as it may leave you more flexibility with your little one.

We're going in October and after talking to friends of ours who were there last year, we decided to do the beach on our own and not through Disney. They did it on their own and had a great time. The only disadvantage is that drinks won't be included but you'd have to drink a heck of a lot in those five hours to make up for the difference in price!!!

We rented a jeep and did beach on our own. Lots cheaper than the DCL excursion.
