COVID super spreading family we know **Our friend has passed away**

As long as you all keep that narrative, nothing can be discussed. It's a fight not a discussion. Not once have I heard anyone saying they don't care that almost 300k Americans have died. Not a single person has said this. How do you catch it and die if you don't interact with these people who "don't care"? My saying they don't care that almost 300k Americans have died'suggestion is and always has been, stop interacting with people if you think you are going to die by interacting with people.

About your assertion of 'Not once have I heard anyone saying they don't care that 300k Americans have died.'

In my interpretation this is where ACTIONS speak louder in this explanation than mere WORDS.

Ok

We DID flatten the curve! My county was one of the hardest hit at first, hospitals were overwhelmed. And then they weren’t, because people were not gathering. Now our hospitals are full again.

Exactly! We were in a far better position to keep on flattening in the Spring with lockdown. At any hour now our area of Ontario, Canada is most likely mandated to a revisit of an 'essential only' lockdown again; hopefully it isn't too late because our numbers (and hospitals being overwhelmed) are horrid now!!

Thanks! We are hopeful because we'd assume he's had at least 4 days since he got tested on Tuesday, so hopefully no symptoms so far is a good sign.

But we are very worried. Its very quiet at home here tonight.

My son and DIL did the rapid test a couple of weeks ago. They knew within hours.

Dan, sending prayers for your friend. As you know and other DISers, my sister and BIL have been dealing with Covid since Dec 2. She just called us this morning to say she and her DH are finally feeling better so let's, hope, Dan......your friend can spread that kind of news soon.

I guess that would be a valid question if we had actual contact tracing measures in place....:rolleyes1
Sadly, there are too many cases to follow up with. Our state will be launching a voluntary contact tracing app next week.

The app works by utilizing Bluetooth technology to communicate with other smartphones with it activated. If someone tests positive, they will be given a code to enter into their app, which will then send notifications to the phones of everyone with whom they’ve come in contact and has the app activated.

our state has one too....it's voluntary I guess and not many have signed up so that isn't working sadly.....

Too many won't respond to a phone call AFTER they tested. They take the test and don't get the results much less go through the trouble for contract tracing. A bit baffling for us here (DIS) because I suspect most would be compliant.

I'm so confused ... I must be missing something. Are you talking about people who screen phone calls? That they wouldn't answer the tracing phone call? Also, why would anyone go to the trouble of getting tested for Covid and not get the results? I've been tested 3 times and my results have been emailed to be each time.

I know part of why contact tracing hasn't worked fully in Ontario is a lot of people refuse to say who they've been around as they think it's ratting out their friends.

My guess is that my state will be the same. The people who already ignore protocol and get sick and pass it onto others won't be the ones who will download and use the app anyway.

Why would anyone not answer their phone after testing? I don't know. As I stated...a bit baffling. Positive results are relayed and discussed by phone. Only negative results are emailed. Those who answer often argue about the results.

I'm not sure how positive results are sent here since I've been negative each time. You were the one that said people wouldn't answer their phone, so I guess I'm still confused.

I was editing my post when you asked this question. I got distracted by a food delivery. Sorry I hit post reply before I finished.

DDs positive results were done at a county testing center and emailed to me. I never got a phone call. I got a call from the CDC 4 days later to go over contact tracing. I’m in NJ.

Sounds way more efficient than the way it's handled here. Unfortunately part of the problem may be...not everyone having access to email? Although I'm only speculating.

You must have missed my follow up post because that was actually my point...maybe read a bit further :)

I'm surprised people didn't get the point of my post...but maybe I shouldn't be

Hey Covid experts.

Micky's (my guy) dad lives in Arizona. He's 81 and we just found out he tested positive for Covid. :( He has no idea how he got exposed. Always masked, they stay home.

So he tested positive 3 days ago but currently has no symptoms (no fever, anything). We asked why he got tested and he said just because he wanted to. He called his doctor today who said to stay home as long as no symptoms.

Does that sound right, even at his age, not to go see doctor? I guess so? I suppose it's good he hasn't had any symptoms at all?
I'm sorry to hear of the positive result :( Good thoughts your way
