We will be on the fantasy in January. Should I be prepared for my three year old son to need Covid 19 testing?
My husband and I are both vaccinated, so only worried about our little one!

I believe all unvaccinated people will always have to have a COVID test prior to boarding. I'm thinking that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to have a negative test for a while. Many cruise lines are adding this requirement to their policy.

But nobody knows how things will be in January.

Yes, I would be prepared just in case. It is assumed the policy for the Fantasy will be the same for the other ships unless or until we are told otherwise.

You should prepare him for it to prevent a meltdown. My 3 yo GS has been tested a couple of times after potential exposures. Testing now is not as bad as the early days when it felt like they were scraping your brain. Tell him "they are going to use a q-tip to tickle the inside of your nose for a few seconds. It might feel weird but it won't hurt." And then maybe even practice once gently so he knows what to expect.

January is a long ways away based on how rapidly things have been changing, in both directions!! I would keep it in the back of your head for now but don’t mention it to him until your SURE it will be required. And like others have said, the PCR isn’t that bad anymore and you can practice on your own!

Just to reassure you, I've been Covid tested multiple times & the basic nose swipe isn't too difficult. Naturally, it will be harder for a 3 year-old & there might be tears & a tantrum anyway, but I don't believe DCL is requiring the test that goes way deep into the nasal cavity. I've had that one, too, and it's a lot harder. But the basic nose swipe isn't bad.

Maybe use a q-tip and “practice “ a few times so he knows what to expect.
