Covention 2/15-2/22

My DH called last night to make reservations at Desert Inn and Suites for Feb 15-22 and was quoted a higher price than listed in the AAA book (about 75.00 a night more than the highest price listed). The person on the phone said make your reservations now because there is a convention in town that week and prices will only go up. Do you think we are crazy for going that week? So far hotel airfare is about 2-3 times the price for WDW. I know park hoppers are cheaper but I'm about to change our trip to WDW again.

I would also like to know. Here in Massachusetts, the schools are closed for President's week 2/17 - 2/21.

Are the California schools closed during this time? Do you think the parks will be crowded? How are the temperatures during Feb? I think I read somewhere that it rains a lot??

My daughter's school is closed for that week, as are a lot of schools in Northern California. Can't speak for the southern part though.
