To you Ladies that have done Princess before, did you dress up? If so, where did you get your costume? I have seen a few on Etsy, but WoW ! They are high. I am doing the GSC so I will need 2 outfits and can't see paying $100+ for something I will wear 1 time. All suggestions welcome.

I picked Merida for the 1/2 and will probably go with Cinderella for the 10k.
Thanks in advance

Start with a comfortable running top in a colour that matches your princess of choice. Use this top when you run to ensure that it is comfortable, I prefer ones with a built in bra, my daughter chooses a matching sports bra for extra support. we both love Lululemon (approx $58) but have been known to pick up cute ones elsewhere like TJMax (approx $15 to $20). A good running top is worth every penny and does not count as costume cost. :)

Now keep an eye out for running shorts, the tight fitting type, in a pinch you can use black but I like to somewhat match my top. I have green ones that work with Tinkerbell and Dopey, White that work with Belle, Snow White and Cinderella etc.

Next up is a tutu, search "how to make a no sew tutu", easy as can be.

If this is not enough, now you can accessories, compression socks, armbands, shrugs, flowers etc

Also after Halloween look for cheap (in price and quality) costumes, even from the kids section that you can take bits and pieces from, i.e. Cinderella's overskirt, Snow Whites sleeves, just tack them on and remove them later.

If running in a tutu seems scary to you, you can always get a Team Sparkle skirt. They are $25 and so lightweight that its like you are wearing nothing! They come in every color under the rainbow so will work for any character you can think of:).

I was going to go with the tutu's but read somewhere that they can rub your arm while you are running and make them sore. Anyone have a problem with that ?

I would also like to know. My friend and I are making our costumes (2 each since we're running GSC) and were planning on making no sew tutus.

For the 10k I'm running in my ANRF jersey.

For the tink, and the half I'm running as a bride :) I've got a special shirt planned for these.

I worry about that because I have a very low arm carry. My wrists brush my shorts outer seams on each stride, so I'm pretty sure a tutu is out. However, there are some nice lycra running skirts that will work without the scratchy tulle, so that's what I'm planning on.

Like the OP, right after I signed up for GSC I realized I would need TWO costumes. That was a moment of panic ! :rotfl:. I've decided to use my marathon Minnie Mouse for the 10K. I'm trying to decide between Provincial Belle and Princess Leia for the actual PHM. Like many others, I'm just putting together various bits of running clothing to make my costumes, not actually buying them *as* costumes.

(I'm sure some of you have noted the glaring weakness of my plan: between Minnie, Provincial Belle, and Leia there's no logical way to fit a tiara in there :worried:. I may have to rethink this strategy ;).)

Same here..... I choose Merida and she doesn't have a tiara, but I might just wear one anyway. I am REALLY wanting this :

but I am having a hard time letting myself spend $100 + on ONE outfit :(

I'm a sparkle skirt fan (wore a sparkle light for Rapunzel this years Princess) and then bought a SparkleTech I've been wearing a lot. DD likes running skirt brand running skirts, they are not as "wide" more form fitting so maybe no rubbing issue for the arms?

I don't have an issue with either of my sparkle skirts rubbing my arms though. I wore tutu's 2 years and they didn't bother me either - although with the really wide one I carried my arms differently for awhile.

Yeah, it says on there that she can do a tank, but I wonder how much it will change the design?

I'm not sure but I think she'd be able to figure it out. We used her for the Princess last year (Belle & Ariel) and loved it! I had her change the Belle skirt..just asked for it to look like the dress and I loved how it came out! I am doing Rapunzel and am going to have her tweak it a little bit too

Good to know ! I messaged her and she said that she is getting super busy and she recommends ordering no later than the first of October. When did you order before ? Trying to decide if I am going to buy 2 from her or just the one and go for something a little cheaper for the 10k.:confused3

I also like Running Skirts, they are very form fitted so there is no issue with rubbing and they come in tons of fun colors. They usually aren't glittery or sparkly though. That's why I like the Team Sparkle skirts to wear over what I'm wearing for a fun extra layer:). They are not pouffy but stand out.

I kind of did. I was thinking that I would like a full on costume and I was 100% correct. This year was HOT, with humidity levels in the upper 90s. I went with a black Nike tank top, a Minnie print Sparkle Tech skirt, pink compression socks and clip in Minnie ears. Not a full on costume, more like themed running clothes. So glad I went that way. Towards the end I was ready to crawl out of my skin. I would have died if I'd worn an actual costume. This year's weather made me think of dressing lighter for the races, so I'll end up going more for comfort than looks for the 1/2. I am dressing as Amy Farrah Fowler from the big Bang Theory for the 10k. My teammate is dressing as Sheldon Cooper lol.

We ordered really late...like 2 weeks before. But that was before I saw a lot her stuff so maybe she just got really popular
