Courtyard Lake Buena Vista - Should I switch to offsite?

We currently have reservations this Jan 20 to 23 at POFQ at around $148 including tax a nite. We have previously stayed at WL...this past October and wanted to try something cheaper and different for a short stay.

However, we have enough Marriott points to stay at the Courtyard Lake Buena Vista at Vista Centre for those 3 nites instead, ie. free. We would then rent a car instead of getting a car to pick us up at the airport and take us to the hotel, and visa versa.

Any imput would be appreciated. Also, we have 3 kids under 7. Would this be a total pain...driving and all? Or can I do it for a short stay?

Just my own opinion, without knowing your financial situation, but if you can afford it, I would recommend using Disney's Magical Express (for free transportation from Orlando to your hotel) and staying at POFQ.

To me (and others certainly disagree), staying onsite is so much better than staying offsite that the costs outweigh it. It helps us appreciate the vacation more and provides a more "relaxing" feel for us than staying off-site.

That said, if cost is a concern, than staying offsite is better than not going at all!

CarnotaurDad...thanks for the input. That's what my husband wants to do. He likes the convenience of it and the Disney-ness....I was trying to be frugal and save it...but we can spend it w/o hurting anything too so we are lucky (and thankful) in that respect. Thanks again!

POFQ is one of my favorite DW resorts. My DD would agree with me 100% if only for the beignets. She couldn't get enough of them. It's a beautiful & relaxing resort. I don't think you'll regret it! Have fun!

Just last nite I was also debateing this with my Dh, I just found so many better deals off site, but hubby said no he likes the atmosphere and the convienience of it all so we are staying on site.....I too was trying to save us a little money but he said not to worry......
