Couples Spa Questions Etiquette

I was reading about the couples spa, and noticed that folks included that it is okay to go without bathing suit in the hot tub. I am thinking of doing the couples treatment with my partner, and it sounds fun/relaxing, but I am pretty shy. I think it would be nice to not have to wear a bathing suit if it is a sea day, but want to make sure to understand the etiquette. When the masseuse comes back, won't they see you nude in the hot tub? I would not want that. Is there a clock on the wall so you know when they are coming back? I am a bit confused how you do this without creating that issue.

Also, have any same-sex couples done this package? Have they respected you as a couple? Really hate when we go for couples massage and are treated as friends/they ask about husbands or don't put our hands together at the end - the little things that make it awkward.

TIA! No cruise booked for the near future, but already planning and daydreaming :cloud9:

Haven't been there. But I imagine they are like a doctor or nurse they have seen lots of people naked that it doesn't do anything for them.

I did the solo, so I can't speak to the couple's, but I will say I had your same fears with the nudity. I wore a bathing suit for fear of this, however I think it was totally unnecessary. I did the "alone time" and on the villa, she closed the curtains and shut the door. When it was just about time to come back, she knocked on the door. She gave me plenty of time to get dressed and come in at my own pace.

Have fun planning! It's one of the best parts :)

Hmmm, we did a long time ago, maybe 2008? I remember them saying that bathing suits were required in the hot tub to us. I think they just knocked on the sliding door to the veranda when it was time to get out and then gave us 5-10 minutes to get ready for the foot cleansing and tea. You are on a big canopy lounger for the tea and I can't imagine just wearing a towel for that with people sitting at your feet. If I was wet, it would take me a bit to tug my swimsuit back on after the hot tub so it just seemed easier to keep it on the whole time.

This is how they do the couples massage, also.

They give you nice thick terry robes and sandals to put on. You don't have to put your swimsuit on a wet body. When they do the massage, they do not uncover what doesn't NEED to be uncovered. I was in the buff and was never exposed. They are very discreet and respectful.

We've never used bathing suits in the hot tub. They've always left us on the verandah on our own. We hang up our robes and soak in the tub. When they came back, they knock on the sliding doors and wait for us to get out and put our robes on (curtains drawn). They are very discrete when it comes to getting you under the sheet for the massage and turning over. They'll also leave at the end of it to allow you to put your robe on again. DH is very shy when it comes to this kind of thing (I have no problem with it - I get regular massages) and he's agreed to do this about 4 times so far.

DH and I recently enjoyed the Couple's Choice and as was mentioned above they were very discreet and told us we had 30 minutes to enjoy the hot tub and that they would knock when our time was up. The chilled picture of water and chocolate covered strawberries was also very nice. We had 2 lovely ladies from South Africa perform the hot stone massage and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.

As you seem to be sensitive this might be nice to know but FYI please don't address the Massage Therapist a Masseuse, it has different connotation these days and most Massage Therapist holds licences from their state or as here in Florida the health department and as classed as healthcare providers on land. A Masseuse is basically a lady of the night.
