Country Music Full/Half April 25th, 2009

Thanks to everyone for all your kind thoughts here and via PMs. I knew "all the cool kids" were going to CMM! :thumbsup2

COOL!!!! Glad to see so many joining in on the fun in Nashville! Looking forward to seeing everyone there! :cool1:

Anyone interested in a WISH meet and/or WISH carb loading dinner on Friday????

If interested in just meeting up, we can maybe meet sometime at the expo on Friday. What time is everyone arriving in Nashville & planning on being at the expo? John & I arrive in Nashville at 9:10am & were planning on pretty much heading straight to the expo, but we can wait until later in the day if that is the way everyone wants to go. Since it looks like most everyone is staying at the Hampton Inn on Donelson we can also possibly meet up sometime after dinner at the hotel before heading to sleep.

If interested in a carb loading dinner, I was thinking maybe the Old Spaghetti Factory, but am open to any other ideas or suggestions. According to their website they have banquet rooms for groups over 25, so if we have at least that many wanting to get together for dinner we can look into that. If not, they have call ahead seating. Also, according to the website they open at 5pm & I would suggest we get there before they open. I’m sure Old Spaghetti Factory will end up being pretty crowded Friday night.

Pat – The post race dinner Saturday night at Jack’s BBQ sounds GREAT! Count John & I in.

Wendy – Wow! Very scary for your DH & you & your family. Glad it turned out to be ok. Lots of prayers & :wizard: that they figure out what is causing his problems.

Karen,

Thanks for checking into this. John and I would love to go to Old Spaghetti Factory. I'm pretty sure we'll be 3 since our son Jason is also doing the race.

About the Expo......we'll probably go there directly from the airport (around 10am-ish) and then go spend some time with John's mom. We can meet up with everybody else for dinner at any time.....either back at the hotel or the restaurant.

Jim and I are in for the Spaghetti Factory! I'll put a blurb about it in the first post.

Karen - I'm getting into Nashville @ 9:20 Friday on Southwest and picking up a car. I'll most likely head to the expo shortly after. The Old Spaghetti Factory sounds perfect for carb loading:thumbsup2

Wendy - So sorry about DH's medical scare:hug:

Allie - WISH'ers will get you through it, don't worry at all about that:grouphug:

Happy Valentine's Day:love:

Hey all, we will be arriving on Tuesday so we can hook up with anyone and everyone before the expo trip. Just keep me informed on plans. For the dinner, put me down for 4. The kids will love it. :goodvibes

Is anyone doing the concert Sat night? I am iffy on this as we fly out at 6 the next morning and I don't want to be out too late. Besides, first marathon...I think I will be tired!!! :scared:

Lisa, we are waiting to see who the concert performer is before we make a decision. I'm a country fan, so I am interested, just waiting on the announcement.

Truthfully I am aiming for 25 states - there's a great website called www.half2run.com - their motto is half the distance, half the states, all the fun!! It has an awesome tool for searching for halfs by state, with runner reviews and links to the official race website. Very nice!

I have heard of that site. I was going to give it a shot but I just keep doing races in OH and FL.

I did the Capital City half in Columbus OH in 2006 when my youngest DS was a student at OSU.
Don't you mean THE OSU!

Driving down so we won't get in until around 2p Friday and think we'll skip the dinner.

Sat we are a go for BBQ (yum) and also plan on playing the concert by ear. Will depend on who's playing, time, how tired Patrick is, etc. I'd like to get over to Wildhorse again but we are going to be real short on time this trip.

Don't you mean THE OSU!

I stand corrected! If he had actually graduated, then maybe I'd say THE:lmao:

As far as states go - I keep repeating IL and FL myself.....I would like to make a suggestion for you if you are looking to branch out a little - DH and I did the Indy mini-marathon (it's a half) last May. It was a blast - 35,000 participants and entertainment and crowd support like you wouldn't believe. Everything from a polka band, jazz, country, garage rock bands, old geezer garage rock bands, and bagpipes. Also, the course is very very flat (always a good thing for me!). The race usually sells out the November before, but it is definitely worth planning ahead for!

:stitch2: Monday Mixers w/ Team 'Ohana :stitch2:

I thought I'd let the CMM WISHers know that Team 'Ohana is inviting their WISH family to come visit its thread on Mondays. We thought this would be a good way for people on the teams/threads to get to know other WISHers better. Plus, 'Ohana like to think we know how to throw a party and we always like new guests! The drinks are free, if virtual, and no one will tell you when you've had enough. :upsidedow

I'll post a reminder on Monday, with a loose question/discussion topic to get the conversations going. There's no need to stick to the topic, of course, as it's really your sparking, non-alcoholic but still intoxicating presence that is requested. So, if you have a little time for socializing with your cousins, please stop by 'Ohana on Monday! :goodvibes

Ok Deb, like the mixers idea.

I'm in for dinner and what all else. I'm needing to pull out all my stuff so I can pay attention to the timing, directions and things. Still not sure if DH will be coming it looks like he will; but I am definitely going to enjoy climbing around with everyone.

Does anyone know if the Country Music 1/2 is close to being sold out? I've got my room reservations, I just need to finally commit to this one by registering. I'm still slightly on the fence about this one and am hoping to have a little more time to decide.:confused3

Thanks!
Susan

I know it is going to be a blast which is why I hate to miss it. I just have to weigh the cost, time off, drive to Nashville etc.

We invite you to visit Team 'Ohana for the Monday Mixer! Stop by anytime today (or anytime, really) and say hi. The mixer starts here on the 'Ohana thread.

Our loose topic for 'Ohana's first Monday Mixer is "What song made you laugh out loud the last time you heard it?"

Of course, you don't need to stick with that prompt. You can talk about the last thing that made you laugh out loud, period. Or the Oscars, Nascar, Pixar. Or the meaning of life, the universe and everything. (Although we over at 'Ohana already know the answer is 42. You'll learn to love our geekdom. :rolleyes1)

:stitch: 'Ohana's Monday Mixer :stitch:

We had so much fun with last week’s Monday Mixer, ‘Ohana is doing it again tomorrow! Come early, stay late, visit on any day of the week. No need to stick to the topic, either. We’re just happy to hear from our cousins and swap a tale or two over some tasty beverages. :drinking1

Tomorrow, we’re curious to find out how you pass the time on long walks/wogs/runs if you don’t listen to music and are training solo. (Or what you do in addition to/as an alternative to listening to music.) What makes the long miles less daunting and maybe even enjoyable? What do you watch for, think about, concentrate on? From the serious to silly to the surreal, we want to hear your stories.

Me, I’m pretty sure I hallucinate, but the rest of you probably have better strategies...

Hope to see you on the ‘Ohana thread. The mixer posts for this week start here.

I'll be rolling solo for the CMM. We just found out that Miranda's Senior Prom is scheduled for April 24th. We canceled Tracy's flight so Miranda wouldn't have the house to her self for the weekend. Unfortunately, there are no refunds or transfers for the race registration. I can't even pick up her race packet for her. At least they have a method of sending her the shirt we payed for.

I hope everyone's training is going well.

Hey all, I ran 7 today, and it STUNK!!! I kept wondering how in the world I am ever going to be able to do 13 in two months! :confused3

Gave Sandy321 a call, and she gave me a pep talk! :thumbsup2 There are a lot of factors that went in to today's STINKY run. I'm just looking toward next week's and wiping today's from my memory.

Hope everyone's training is going well!

Can't wait to see you all! :cool2:
