Country Music Full/Half April 25th, 2009

So, anybody looking for a roomie? I shouldn't even be thinking about it, but if I was sharing expenses with someone... maybe... Otherwise, I'm doing the responsible thing (don't cha just hate that?!?) and staying here to cheer you folks on from afar... :)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!! I can attest that Wendy is an awesome roommate - we shared expenses at Run to Victory in 2007 and it really helps to split costs!

Gee Wendy, I hope you find someone to share a room with.....if not, come sleep in our bathtub!

That would work fine for me, but at some point don't you think you'd want to bathe?!?!? :rotfl2: Just kidding of course. I'm trying very hard just to trust that things will work out if they are meant to be -- otherwise, I'll just hop on the TM and join you guys virtually. I remember having a great time there, though, both times I did Nashville -- first, the marathon the inaugural year (I think), then the half a year or two later with my daughters.

I'd definitely go for the half this year -- I want to have more time to hang out with the group.

Ok, I couldn't figure out how to edit the title of the first post - but there are plans to eat at Jack's the night of the marathon. It's a great bbq joint. No reservations necessary, and you order at a counter so no worries about splitting a check. Hope everyone can make it - the more the merrier!!

For anyone who hasn't registered -- Today's the 10th so in theory by registering today you'd be eligible for any special item that Elite Racing is including for the anniversary. :thumbsup2

Ooooo....I love Tennessee sytle BBQ! Sounds like a plan!

WDWFAN9: I see you are trying to run in all the states, good luck. That is something I was thinking about doing eventually but I keep finding runs in OH and FL I want to do.

I'm just curious, which run did you do in Ohio? If you already posted it in a previous post sorry, I was feeling especially lazy today :lmao:

Truthfully I am aiming for 25 states - there's a great website called www.half2run.com - their motto is half the distance, half the states, all the fun!! It has an awesome tool for searching for halfs by state, with runner reviews and links to the official race website. Very nice!

I did the Capital City half in Columbus OH in 2006 when my youngest DS was a student at OSU. We walked it with Lily and a couple of other WISHers and had a lot of fun.

Jeanne - I just tried your coupon code and it said it was invalid. I sent you a pm too. I would like to sign up today since it is the 10th. Maybe it doesn't work on the 10th? :confused3 I just read online that code is for the FULL only. :headache:

I say that because I found another one for $10 off, and I SIGNED UP!!!! :scared1:

This is going to be my first Half ever! I'm so scared and excited all at the same time. I also have a ressie at the Hampton Inn. Just don't know if I'm coming alone or with family in tow. They are holding two rooms for me until I decide. (actually until they decide if they are coming with me or not ;) )

If I come alone or even if I don't come alone, will someone hold my hand and help me through it? PLEASE!!!!:flower3:

So.... it's a "good news, bad news" kind of day.

Allie/Sandi signed up yesteday, that's the good news; but the bad news is... after a lot of conversation last night, in my corner of the universe, we've pretty much come to the conclusion that this year isn't in the cards for me. We are a family with a budget -- and a budget means planning in advance. Not knowing for certain whether I can find a roomie (because I'm really hoping for Sandi that she will be able to go with her family -- I know she'd enjoy that more) means money that might have been allocated for the half needs to be reallocated to one of several other "buckets" that are crying to be filled this month. I'd sort of held on until the 10th to see if the roomie thing was going to work out, but with no certainty and with DH's recent medical issues (we spent all day yesterday in the hospital, but in the end it was good news), we decided that this was a dream I'd better let go.

So, I guess it's the Country Music Half on the treadmill for me -- and I'll live those encounters vicariously through all your reports. I WISH you all the absolute best race experience. As I said, it was a blast when I did it in years past, and I'm sure you guys will make this year one to remember!

:cool1: Allie:cool1:

:sad1: Wendy:sad1:

Allie, I am looking forward to seeing you in Nashville.

Wendy, I am so sorry you won't be able to make it this year. Sometimes being responsible really stinks!! But.....Jim and I are planning to repeat the Indy Mini (half) in May 2010 - keep that one in mind. It is the largest half marathon in the USA, and we had a blast when we did it in 2008. You really do have to plan ahead for that one since it sells out in November. Just something to keep in mind!

Yes, I found out last night that the code doesn't work for the HALF marathon. It kept getting rejected so I called their main office in San Diego and they said it was only for the FULL. Then i asked if they had another code i could use because I was signing up 2 people and they said "no". So I signed us up at full price plus the service fee.....drat! Sandi, where did you find the code.....maybe some others can use it. I also signed up on the 10th to get the "special thing"..........don't know what it is, cuz I don't think I got anything!

Wendy, so sorry it's not going to work out for you. I prepaid for our room using their online nonrefundable rate and it was something like $84, which is not too bad. Seriously girl, I would squeeze you in our room, but we will already have 3 in there. :scared1: (Jason is going to do one of the events also.) Is Leonard still experiencing the vertigo? Did he go for that test that John suggested? Hope everything is OK with him.

No time to post more....I am so backed up with work!

Ok, GOOGLE was my friend last night. ;) SDSURVEY will get you $10 off the registration fee. That basically canceled out the online fee.

Family is still thinking about who might come with me. The lady at the HI was very kind, and is holding two types of rooms for me. One would be ideal for a roomie, and one for the family (or just me and DH if that's how it ends up). :)

Ok, I've got to get in the shower. I have to be at work in 35 minutes. :scared1:

I'm excited, scared, nervous, all in one! :upsidedow

Sorry, I was kind of exhausted last night after our hospital stay -- here's the scoop. Which is waaaaaay :offtopic:

They thought DH had an aneurysm! Oh my gosh -- he'd had an MRI and an MRA (? I forget!) and both indicated an aneurysm. He had to go in yesterday for a cerebral arteriogram to determine the size of the aneurysm and (PTL) the neurosurgeon said that DH has an “anatomical variance” – that is, that his brain does not share the common anatomy that the rest of us have (I told her I could have told her THAT without looking at a brain scan – just from being married to the man for nearly 20 years!) and the unusual configuration of his perfectly healthy blood vessels just looked like an aneurysm in the two previous scans. That is very good news! :woohoo:

Still has the equlibrium problems, but in comparison, that seems very minor. Today, I'm spending all day being VERY happy that my beloved best friend has an "abnormal brain". :rotfl:

Yikes Wendy!!:scared1: How scary for you both! Glad it was ok, and he just has an abnormal brain.

Wendy - amazing!! added :wizard: from this Wish teammate!

Wendy, I'm glad DH's medical issue is not what was at first suspected. I do WISH that whatever is the problem that it is one with an easy resolution and they get it figured.

So sorry about you not joining us for this event.
