Has anyone stayed there recently that can tell me about this place? I just booked it but want to be sure I did the right thing. Somewhere I got the impression from another thread that there may not be smoking rooms? I hate smoke but DS, DF, and BIL are smokers. There will be 9 of us. Are the fridges big enough to hold quite a bit. How was the service and breakfast and snacks they offer? This place almost sounds too good to be true that is why I am worried and need feedback. Thanks!

We stayed there for only one night in Dec. DH and I both agree, we won't stay there again. We did check in late (about 9 or 10pm) so maybe we got the last available room...We were in a kidsuite, which is basically a hotel room with a separate partitioned area for the kids--bunk beds, desk, chair, etc. The wallpaper on the outside of the kids area was weird--I thought it looked like aliens  . The tub floor in the shower sloped kind of steeply from the sides to the center and both DH and I found it hard to stay balanced in the shower. I've never been in a tub like that before. And the bathroom door handle was about to fall off--held on by one screw and hanging. Can't imagine housekeeping or another guest wouldn't have noticed. The room felt dark, even the next morning, and it just didn't *feel* clean. The free continental breakfast was okay--it was convenient, but not memorable. I also didn't care for the fact that the hotel seemed to be stuck on the end of a strip mall parking lot.

We are accustomed to staying in Super 8 motels for quick overnight stays and I'd have to say that based on our experience (and even with a low rate of about $35), the Country Inn & Suites on Apopka-Vineland was a step below most of the Super 8s we've encountered. Sorry I can't tell you about the fridge or smoking rooms because we didn't need either. Good luck, whatever you decide.

Usually Country Inns are well kept and clean. We've stayed in several off of 95 on the way down from PA to Disney. The breakfast is a fast, simple breakfast but enough is there for you to fill up. THe staff is always nice and they have free coffee/tea and cookies available in the lobbies.

We are going in August and booked the Country Inn at Calypso Cay and got a rate of 49.00 a nite. I feel comfortable booking this hotel not seeing it.

Tarabl,

We had the CI&S at Calypso Cay booked for our trip last year (using the Entertainment rate--$39.50 per night!), though we cancelled because we got a better deal for a 2 bdrm suite elsewhere. It's a fairly new property and has received pretty good reviews here on the boards. Not sure if you were aware, or if they have since fixed the problem, but if you want to do laundry you have to go over to the Amerisuites in the same complex. If that's an issue for you, you may want to check with the hotel directly.

Hope you have a wonderful stay! :D

My experience was the opposite of Local Girl's. The room and hotel was very clean. I don't remember if we used the shower because it was only one night. I thought the breakfast was GREAT but we did not have alot of time to enjoy it because we had an early flight. They had all kinds of food.
The only thing that stunk was the pool. Small and kind of just plopped next to the parking lot. The fridge was not huge- just a regular hotel room fridge. It was within walking distance of some fast food(steak and shake) and a few shops.
I think I got it for around $35 a night last Oct.

country inn & suites in lake buena vista (apopka vineland rd) is absolutely great!! we go down in august for our 6th stay in 7 years. super friendly staff, very clean and new (i think its like 8 years old or so). the breakfast is great, anything you could want in a continental breakfast. i personally like the pool because you there is often a time when you can have it to yourself, especially in the evening which is great on an off day! yes it is in the middle of a parking lot with no theming but if theming is what you want, stay at a disney resort. personally i like spending under $50 a night for the hotel so i can spend more in the park. it has a great location, about a mile to downtown disney and has more restaraunts within a mile than anywhere else in the world maybe, lol. there is always a parking spot right by the building too.

this is by far the best off site hotel in orlando!!!

Thanks for the heads up on the laundry thing. I usually like to do atleast two loads, one white, one dark, but if it's not convenient it's no big deal. I usually do laundry on vacation to cut down the work when I get home.
