This is not to offend anyone before I start. What is your favorite counter service meal? Where is it located? Our trip in November will be a short one (2days) and hoping to keep it cost effective. Not excited to spend $60 -$100 on one meal. We did consider CRT for lunch, but not sure I want to deal with 90, 60, 30, wars with the reservation department. We may have to save that for another trip. If anyone has any ideas for a good meal that wont break the bank - I am all ears! Thanks everyone!! :grouphug:

We all liked Tusker House in Animal Kingdom. They do a great Veggie sandwich. Also Pecos Bill in Magic Kingdom have a great 'fixings bar' where you can add heaps of lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms & onions to your order.

Making an advanced reservation (priority seating) is not too difficult - the CMs are helpful. You would probably get a good choice for a November trip. But if you saw a place you preferred on the day, it's easy to cancel a reservation. In each park, guest services will help you. We got a reservation for the character dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern in MK for Dinner on 4th July made just the day before. What a cool haven that was on that hot day!

Making a reservation for a buffet resturant would help you budget.

At MK we like Columbia Harbour House. Their Cap'n Special (fish, chicken, fries or carrots) and their salad are excellent. I also like Casey's. I love sitting right outside eating my hot dog or corn dog nuggets, listening to the piano player, and gazing at the castle. They're very cheap also. Their hot dogs are big and only like $3.79 or so.

At AK Tusker House has excellent salmon and Flame Tree has large portions of BBQ that's good. My GD loved their corn on the cob. The tables along the river makes for a cool and peaceful meal.

At Epcot I'd go hands down for Tangierine Cafe in Morroco. Loved their Swarma platter, although the fish and chips in England are also pretty good. At Epcot you may just want to snack your way around the world: churro and margarita in Mexico, school bread in Norway, German chocolate cookie in Germany, fried wontons in a bag in China, cannoli in Italy, funnel cake in America, Kaki Ghori in Japan, Swarma sandwich in Morroco, Marvelous in France, Fish & Chips in England, maple candy in Canada. Did I leave any countries out?

At MGM--hmm good one, none of their CS are particularly appealing. I think I'd take the boat over to the Beach Club and eat at Beaches & Cream (just to get a No Way Jose Sundae, if nothing else).

DTD-Earl of Sandwich-cheap, but very good

Thanks Disney Time and Aubriee for the ideas! They give me some other idea's. :flower:

For an alternative to eating CS or battling for CRT lunch ADRs, I'd like to suggest lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. Really good food (much better than their dinner), reasonable prices, and I doubt you'll have any trouble getting an ADR there.

Here's a link to the lunch menu:

Peco Bills and Cosmic Rays at MK both are good values and good counter serve. CRT for lunch and dinner isn't so hard to get. Dinner is not a character though. It is worth it for the atmosphere at least once.

If your trip is in the first half of November, Epcot will be having the food and Wine Festival. You cab graze around the WS pretty cheaply.

Dd and I are doing a quickie, last minute trip this Friday. When we go as a family, we tend to eat at a lot of table service places. This time though, I only booked two...1900 Park Fare for princess dinner on our last night, and Donald's Breakfastasaurus on AK EMH day. Otherwise, we'll be doing food court meals at our resort (Pop) or counter meals in the parks. I'm looking forward to seeing just how 'inexpensively' the two of us can do this. So, I for one, was interested to see how others plan their counter service meals. With my DDE card in hand, I'm off to WDW to see how cheaply I can eat. At least my DDE is good at the two ADR meals I have and at the food court at Pop!!
