I swear up and down that I've read posts about this before but I didn't have any luck when I searched for it. What meals are big enough for two adults to share? Our budget just took a HUGE hit and we're only a week out! I have already cancelled two of our ADRs and added more meals to my list to make at the resort, but I need to know some cheap eats inside the park so that I don't get burned out of PB&J with carrot sticks.

I personally find that the food portions are huge. I have shared CS with another adult and still had food left over and I have also shared a kid's meal with my son and still had food left over.

I find in the heat and humidity that water is the biggest thing - we drink 5-6 bottles of water per day.

I know some people have talked about getting a double patty burger at Cosmic Rays and asking for a second bun. They have a great condiment bar there so making two burgers would be easy. HTH

THE ribs and chicken combo at cosmic rays is large enough for 2. ask for a glass of ice water- big saver-i find the fish and chips in england big too. for table service order appetizers only. the big breakfast platter is enough for two also-or take box cereal and buy milk when you get there

Take some PB&J sandwiches with you into the park for one quick meal (maybe a bag of chips too). Just order a drink or water. Chances are, it will be hot and you wont feel like eating much anyway. You can just stash them in your purse and won't need a cooler.

The CS in Mexico and Morocco have big portions, big enough to share! Also...we found a pizza at Via Napoli with a salad was a great dinner and reasonably priced for a sit down...Pecos Bills also has a huge fixins bar to stretch your meal.

the newly renamed tortuga tavern (across from pirates) has a really big nacho plate. In general DH and I can normally share a chicken fingers plate. Don't forget adults can order a kids meal at a CS place (and sometimes at at sit down) with no problem. They're usually a decent amount of food and normally come with 1 or 2 sides, a small drink and a dessert! Oh, and at Epcot we usually like to head into WS hungry so we can grab a snack in a couple of the countries. Some days I think we would be better off just snacking our way thru the day but DH can't manage :rotfl:

I agree with cosmic rays, moroccos counter service is big also and while not in the parks pucks express at dtd has great food & huge portions. we either share or take left overs back to the room if you have a fridge. also the portions at the food courts in both of the port orleans resorts are big and tasty too. we share quite a few of our counter service meals when we are there in the summer. it still fills us up but we are not stuffed or throwing food away. it also allows us to try new places while minimizing the risk of throwing out a ton of food if we do not care for a place much. if we like it we can always come back right? another good place to get a good sized sandwhich/ meal is boardwalk bakery. not a huge selection there but the sandwhiches were good sized and able to be shared.
sorry about the last minute snag on your plans. glad you are still able to go.

We found that Wolfgang Puck Express had HUGE servings and delicious. I can never eat a whole sandwich from the Earl of Sandwich.

Hope this helps some.

How would you describe your appetites? I've asked this questions before and honestly I haven't found one place yet where both dh and I could both be satisfied. Earl of sandwhich does make big sandwiches but my dh can finish one. So if I give him my half he usually is hungry again after say an hour.

Same with pecos bill. the Burger platters may be too much for one person but they were diffently not enough for both of us to be satisfied. So pretty much we've stopped trying to share. The cost of getting a snack 45 minutes afterwards wiped out any small savings we had from sharing.

i know people have mentioned earl of sandwich. if you have aaa you can get 15% off your food there. restaurant.com also has giftcertificates that you can get for house of blues ($25 off $35). there are other gift certificates you can get for places in the swan and dolphin hotels too. this is a savings whether you decide to share or not.

Oh wow! I just checked out that menu at Tangierine Cafe in Morocco and holy yum! DH and I agreed we'd share the Mediterranean Slider Combo. It looks delish and PLENTY for DH, DS2 and me.

My Dh and I will share a sandwich at Columbia Harbor House, but buy a bowl of chowder for DH as well. I don't like soda, so I will bring my own bottle of water to drink or fill at the water fountain.

You can also buy one adult and one child meal at CS and it will be plenty.

Pecos Bills wrap sandwhiches are big enough for my Dh and I to share also.

You can also just get the sandwich, you don't have to order the combo up on the board.

Or, you can get one combo and an extra side.

Cups of water are free, so you could save some $$ there. We didn't mind the taste too much, but sometimes add some Crystal Light packs just for a change.

In addition to those mentioned above:

One of our faves to share is the Chicken Caesar Salad and side of Breadsticks at Pizzafari.

At Pizza Planet we get a combo and an extra side salad.

Sometimes we just get a kids portion at CS meals. They come with 2 sides and a drink. I'll usually save one side for a snack later (usually grapes).

The Flametree BBQ in Animal Kingdom has huge portion sizes. You get two gigantic pieces of chicken plus the side dishes. When on the dining plan, we each ate our own meal and threw away 1/2 of it because it was so much food. When we're not on the dining plan, DH and I share and the kids each share. Everyone feels like they've had plenty to eat.

Also, if you're looking for a snack to share, go to Dino Bites (it's a snack place) which is also in Animal Kingdom and order the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. You get two enormous chocolate chip cookies with thick ice cream in the middle. The first time we ordered them, we split two of them 4 ways. That was still a lot of snack!!! The next time we had one, we split it into four pieces and and everyone was still satisfied. It's pretty inexpensive too -- like under $4.00.

I second the platters at Tangierine Cafe in Morocco at Epcot!

It would depend on your appetites I think. Personally, I LOVED the Mexican food and ate it all no problem. I'm not a Pooh size girl either but I do love to eat. I can out-eat people that outweigh me by 200 lbs.

I would pack snacks & sandwiches for snacks. Eat them in between and try to make it stretch.

Thank you so much for all the ideas! We are cooking at the resort EVERY morning and most nights. We'll also bring snacks each day and lunch a few of the days. I'm really looking forward to our eating plan on vacation now... it's a lot of cooking, but I'm having fun figuring out what we can and can't afford to eat. Our goal for QS meals is for us to all eat for under $15. We'll go a little over at Tangierine but we'll make up for it another day. We only have two ADRs and they're pretty pricey, but we both feel very attached to them (one is a fancy dinner for just the two of us at Artist Point and one is Chef Mickey's breakfast the morning we leave). I also have a $10 GC for Chili's from Swagbucks that we'll use on one of our off-park days... probably at lunch and then I'll cook dinner. Definitely trying hard to pinch pennies where we can and making the ones we do spend count!

The ABC Commissary at DHS has a very large burger with 3 large fried shrimp and fries. We always bring refillable water bottles and fill up at the water fountains.

The ham and cheese croissant is very filling and inexpensive at Boulangerie Patisserie in France at Epcot. You can get 2 of them for about $9 and ask for cups of ice water. We did this in Mayand they are really yummy. We ordered 1 each for DH and I and then a 3rd for DS and DD to share (they are 4 and 1 1/2 and it was more than enough, DH actually ate the leftover from the kids).
