Counter Service before MVMCP

We have tickets for the party on our arrival day. I have plenty of ADRs for the remainder of our stay but would like more flexibility on this day. I'm thinking of an early counter service dinner somewhere - either at our resort (CR) or in the park itself. Any suggestions?

We're going on the 15th to MVMCP... plan on arriving around 4 pm and having a quick counter service at Cosmic Rays. I love the 1/2 chicken, ribs, mashed tatars, and veggies. Not to mention the choc. cake. GREAT deal for a counter service on the DDP.

If you are going to the park, I would suggest Pinocchio's.

Also, just something else to consider....you could take the boat for a relaxing ride from the Contemporary to Wilderness Lodge and have lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe and then take the boat from Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom.

I also agree that Cosmic Rays has the best selection for everyone.......I went last week and I had the chicken ceasar salad and hubby got the chicken sandwich......they gave him the special type of chips and they were good too...

We will also be eating at Cosmic Rays before the MVMCP begins on December 6th. We had an ADR at Kona planned, but I cancelled & scheduled Kona for another night. I think eating CS before the party will help us feel less rushed & we love Cosmic Rays!

My DW and I are planning to do the MVMCP the day after we arrive. One counterservice that we like at MK and that has gotten some good reviews is the Columbia Harbour House. Unfortunately, it closes before MVMCP.

Cosmic Rays is good food, lot to choose from as well. As far as dining plan it can't be beat. 2 Adults can share the half chicken rib plate and you can use the saved cs for later that night for a midnight snack.

Thanks for the great ideas! I understand that you can enter MK before MVMCP as early as 4 pm, so maybe Columbia Harbor House is a possibitlity after all? Otherwise, Cosmic Ray's sounds good...

I'm looking forward to trying the tuna sandwich and clam chowder at CHH. We like Cosmic Ray's, too, but find it much quieter at CHH, especially if you go upstairs. Enjoy!!

I am not sure if you know this or not, but the Food & Fun Center at the Contemporary is now closed and a temporary counter service location has been opened on the 4th floor. However they don't sell any mugs there and the menu is very limited. There is also the Sand Bar which is located by the pool which has you're standard items, however the menu is not that big and you would have to eat outside. Of course there is still Captin Cook's at the Polynesian and Gasparilla's Grill & Games at the Grand Floridian in terms of full counter service locations if you don't want to eat at the Magic Kingdom.

We loved Cosmic Rays. They have a great fixin's bar and many selections to chose from.

exactly what I did. Had Kona's but didn't want to feel rushed and miss the fun at the MK.

We have 3:30pm "dinner" ADRs at Crystal Palace on the day we are attending MVMCP. We've done Cosmic Rays in the past during the party but we wanted to fill up before hand and then catch snacks as needed as the evening goes on.

I was going to get 3:30 adr but I was told I couldn't enter the park before 4 pm with the event ticket. Are you using a 1 day pass or just a MVMCP ticket??

We have a 1:30 lunch at Crystal Palace on our MVMCP day so we'll have to eat again. I guess we'll be at Cosmic Ray's with everyone else!

We have 9 day park hoppers for our 8night/9day stay. It wasn't that much more to add on the last day (less than $5 for the three of us!) so we did, and I don' t have any qualms about "burning" a day of our tix so we can eat "dinner" before MVMCP starts.
