Countdown to Magic & Merriment and Disapalooza!!! **What to Wear 12/7**

So excited for you that you get to take another solo trip!!! :yay: And this one will be incredible - no one does Christmas like Disney!

I just found your PTR and I have to say that your trip sounds like a blast. Please say "Hi" to lurkyloo for me. I am a huge fan of her trip reports and the magnificant photography in them.

I did not know Neil Patrick Harris was a Disney fan. He will be a great narrater. Very cool!

Love the Elf on the shelf idea. Unfortunately, I can't see the rest of your pics here at work :rolleyes1 so I'll return later.

I LOVE Christmas time a Disney World! It perfectly combines 2 of my favorite things for an incredible experience!

I can't wait to hear what you think of it.

I am back for your next TR. The first time to visit WDW was at christmas time. Its hard to imagine not going any other time. Cant wait to hear more.

Present and accounted for!

Great start and I'm looking forward to seeing Christmas at Disney through your eyes.

And I love Neil Patrick Harris!

Welcome and thanks for joining in! :welcome: I can't wait to share all of the WDW Christmas festivities we encouter while we are down there! :goodvibes

I'm in! Will be following along on your adventures one way or another! :)

Yay Christine! Wishing you were going to be there too though. ;)

I'm here, following and all caught up. Your trip sounds like a whirlwind of fun! I sure wish they had Elf on the Shelf when Katie was little. That would have been a fun tradition.

Thanks so much for joining in, and Welcome!:welcome:

Elf on the Shelf is really fun. And I wish it was around when I was a kid too. My kids sure have a lot of fun racing around the house each morning to find him!

I love the subtle changes you made to your living room for the holidays! I know there's more to come but you have started off very nicely!

My aunt just spent all weekend looking for an elf for my little cousins! I never even knew they exsisted until today! Its sucha cute little thing for kids:goodvibes

Thank you! :goodvibes Hopefully your cousins are liking their Elf as much as we like "Thomas". ;)

I am here for all the festive fun!!! Your trip sounds fantastic -- love all the Christmas pictures, your living room looks stunning with the red pillows and poinsettas, and Thomas looks like a lot of fun. Our elves, slightly different than Elf on the Shelf, will be arriving later in the week. :santa:

Hi Jackie! Thanks for stopping by! :) I saw your brief post about your elfs over on your PTR...I will have to stop back and hear the update on them! Sounds like you were way ahead of the curve on this little tradition Jackie! ;)

I'm tagging along for this PTR. I probably won't ever go at Christmas time, so this is a great way for me to share in the season!

Yay! Glad to have you along! :)

Now, I'm just plain jealous! :lmao: Getting to go without DH & no children, plus going to Harry Potter land! How cool is all of that!?

I know....I probably wouldn't be going to HP if it wasn't for Disapalooza, but now that I am going I am really looking forward to seeing it! :)

I can't wait to hear all about your trip! It sounds like so much fun. I was able to go to Disneyland last year the week before Christmas for the first time and it was so festive!

I know! I simply can't wait to be able to see it all in person! And then Christmas morning when we watch the Parade, and all the resorts featured in the broadcast, for once I will have an even bigger grin because instead of wishing that I could see it for myself one day, it will just bring back great memories from the trip! :goodvibes

I'm fairly new to posting but I've enjoyed reading your trip reports. Looking forward to the current one and the holiday one ;) We also have an Elf. The kids love it but were wondering the other day why he was still in the same spot.

Welcome, and thanks for joining in!:welcome:

How funny you should mention about your Elf not moving. That has happened to our Thomas too...on two separate occasions. :scared1: Although the kids were certain they hadn't touched him (so as to take away his magic powers), I had to sheepishly admit that I must have bumped into him when cleaning up.

So excited for you that you get to take another solo trip!!! :yay: And this one will be incredible - no one does Christmas like Disney!

Hi Brook! :goodvibes Yes, I really can't wait to see it all for myself!

I am going to be down there around the same time as you!! I was wondering what is Disapalooza?

Really? Maybe we will see you in the parks! Disapalooza is actually an event put on by Dreams Unlimited Travel, the folks who host the Dis Unplugged. It is an afterhours party taking place at Universal's Harry Potter Land on Sat, Dec. 10th. You can find out all about it over on the DisUnplugged board. ;)

Hi Mary Ellen! Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes

Carrie & I will definitely get the placed warmed up for your visit later in the month. ;)

Thanks for joining in, and Welcome!:welcome: I can't wait to see everything "Christmas" at WDW, and will be sure to report back on everything here! ;)

I am back for your next TR. The first time to visit WDW was at christmas time. Its hard to imagine not going any other time. Cant wait to hear more.

Wow...what a time to take your first visit...WDW is impressive enough, but add in the Christmas overlay...that must have really been amazing! :goodvibes

Thanks for joining in! :)

Holiday Recipes

I recently picked up this cute little recipe book at Hallmark. I just love it. I look forward to collecting all of my favorite recipes for Holiday baking and cooking so that I will have them conveniently at my fingertips for years to come.

I figure it will be great to have copies of all my favorite recipes for the Holidays in one place, and not scattered throughout several different recipe books and cookbooks, requiring me to go "hunting" everytime I want to find one of them.

Do you have any favorite holiday recipes in your family? If so, please share them here. All responses received by 8pm EST on Sunday, Dec.4th will be entered in a draw for a $35 voucher to be used for holiday cards, holiday labels, holiday party invitations, or holiday gift tags at Tiny Prints, valid until Dec.31st, with no minimum purchase required. So if you only purchase $35 of product, all you will have to pay for is the shipping. I have 3 separate $35 vouchers to give out. If there are more than 3 people who respond, I will put all names in a hat and do a draw.

I have purchased my holiday cards at Tiny Prints the last two years. While this year's card is still being delivered, here is our card from last year:

And here is a holiday party invitation that I made from the Tiny Prints website, along with a matching holiday label:

I will be distributing the 3 $35 codes by 9pm EST on Sunday.

;)

Oh they're loving him! Even though one of them has already touched him:laughing: One morning my aunt walked into the kitchen and my cousin was sitting under the table while the elf was on the floor:lmao:

They named their's Chuckie, which I personally think is alittle bit creppy:laughing:

That's a great offer. I wish I was a cook or a baker, but I'm sure you don't want any recipe that I can come up with (unless I steal it :rolleyes1). My husband, on the other hand....hmmmm, let me check with him. He seriously CAN cook!

I'm here & ready to be jealous of all your holiday fun!
We decided the other night that it was time for a long Disney trip....we haven't been for more than a few days at a time since Oct 2009, so we decided on late Nov/early Dec 2012! Yippee! I just love this time of year at the parks.

That cookbook is so cute! I may have to get one myself.

This is a recipe my grandma (Mamma) would make every Christmas.

Cherry Yum-yums
Graham Crackers crumbs (follow directions on box for 1 crust) (don't buy the pre-made graham cracker crust because some of it needs to be crumbly)
8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 C sugar
2 envelopes dream whip
3/4 can sweetened condensed milk (approx)
1 t vanilla
1 can cherry pie filling
Directions: press most of the graham cracker crust to bottom of dish (need something several inches tall for the layers). Save some crust to sprinkle on top.
Mix the next 5 ingredients until fluffy.
Layer half the cream cheese mix, then all the cherry pie filling, then the rest of the cream cheese mix. Sprinkle with left over graham cracker crust. Refrigerate for a couple of hours before serving.

How cool an idea for cookies. The recipes we have here in the uk don't tend to be the same nice soft and chewy cookies in the US. Ours are usually hard and nowhere near as nice.

Christmas is an amazing time to visit. We were actually there for Christmas and new year in 08 and crossed over oct and nov last year so got to see halloween and Christmas decs. The Osborne lights are amazing as are Christmas wishes. You will have so much fun and I can't wait to read about it (and the last trip when the holidays are out of the way!)

Love the recipe book from Hallmark -- it is so cute!!!

What a fun idea to have a cookie exchange party! Love the invitation for it! You will have a great time! Do you throw one every year?

I will look through my recipes for a fun one to share! :goodvibes

I really hope I get to see you next weekend. I think I PMed you my cell phone? My brain is a little fuzzy right now! :lmao:

Chuckie....yeah, I agree with you. :scared1: I definitely would have veto'd that name!:rotfl:

That would be so great to catch two of my favorite holidays...Halloween and Christmas during one trip! ;) I am already just about bursting with excitement at the thought of getting down there for the holiday!

Hey Jackie...any luck with finding one of your recipes to share? I would love to get some more!:flower3:

And actually the cookie exchange party I am hosting this year will actually be the first time I have either hosted or attended one. It is one of those things I had intended to do for years and finally bit the bullet and put it on the agenda this year. I host it the weekend before Christmas, right after I get back from my trip. :)

I really hope I get to see you next weekend. I think I PMed you my cell phone? My brain is a little fuzzy right now! :lmao:
