 Any ideas on how to count down the trip for my kids. They are very excited. When I was little we would make a poster and hang it on a door. As the youngest, I would get to mark it off everyday until it was time to go.

We do a chain by month so that each day the kids can take one down. By going by month it makes the time move faster. DS 17 still does this countdown.

I think I saw this idea on "John & Kate plus 8". They made a little pull-a-page calendar and placed it on the fridge. You tear off the top page each day to help countdown the days.:wizard:
It seemed to work great for the little ones. I bet they had a blast making the pages with the days on them.:thumbsup2

Great idea, we are marking it down on our chalk board in the kitchen! dd is eleven and this will be the first trip she remembers!

We did a 30 day 'chain link' countdown when we only had a month left. Had the boys help cut the strips out of construction paper (we used several different colors) & hung up the (whole) thing in the doorway of the dining room..........it was fun (of course til they were fighting to see who got to take a 'day' off.......)

We got a big (2' x 2.5') 2008 calendar from Office Max and wrote the numbers on it in red marker in reverse counting back from departure say April 13th to January 1st. We put some special landmarks on bigger days - like 90 days, 60 days, 30 days, one week, etc. The kids would check it first thing every morning getting ready for school. We are down to 21 days to go.....
