Couldn't believe my ears!!!!!! (sorry - long)

Today was the day to make my 11 month reservations for the "big" extended family trip to VWL for next June. Everyone has committed (at least for now) and I had obsessed over requests, points, when to call, etc... I couldn't call until late this afternoon, but was able to talk to MS with only a 1 minute wait. Told him I needed 2 Dedicated 2BR and 1 studio for VWL for the week in June 2004. He took care of the studio and gave me a conf. number then started on the 2 Dedicated 2BRS and told me there were none available for the whole week - that he could make the ressie for all but two days ( Tuesday and Wednesday) and we could waitlist for those days in the middle. I was "IN SHOCK" - I couldn't believe that all the Dedicated 2 BR units were taken. So, he mentioned Lock-offs and talked about how he could accommodate all the days but one in the lock-offs then we could move to the dedicated for that day and blah, blah, blah. I was still flaberghasted and was ready to cry. I couldn't believe that I needed to have called Day by Day at 11 months for a non holiday time. I asked if there was "rehab" going on, if there could be some error with the computer, all the while thinking of how we'd planned this wonderful trip for DH's family who had never been to Disney and it wasn't going to work out. My mind was racing and my eyes were watering and then he said......."But ma'am, President's Day is a very busy time!" I very politely said - I need these for June 2004 - President's Day is in February. So needless to say, I have my reservations for June and all is well for the big family trip!!!!!! Talk about a relief! He apologized for the confusion and I said I was just so happy that it was available - that I had already forgotten about it! (okay, maybe if I had forgotten about it - I wouldn't have come home and posted this long message)

And now you know why I make MS repeat everything on the reservation, including the dates and point balances, before I hang up!

He did move that studio, didn't he?

Glad you ended up with what you needed. I'm sure MS has been flooded with the 7 month requests for President's Day, and the CM just thought February, even though he/she heard June. That is a very busy time at WDW. Now that you're all set, and look back at it, I hope you can find at least a small laugh. But I know where by blood pressure would have been if that was my call.

I've had this happen before with MS and with Dining also (when I call at 120 days, they think I'm calling for the 60 day PS). I think they are so in tune with the current call volume (7 month window to President's Week in your case) that they "can't believe their ears" that you're not calling about that week!

LOL Sorry, I just couldn't pass up the joke, and so happy that your panic attack was very short-lived! Have a great time next June!

Did you make sure he canceled the studio he gave you a confirmation for ??? Was it for Pres week or the dates you requested ?

I did check and he had made the studio ressies for the correct dates. That made the whole thing all the more puzzling to me. Actually, now that I think back, he had computer problems and put me on hold and when he came back - that's when he started booking the 2BRs and that's when the confusion began. I will certainly look over the confimation that they send me very carefully

I know your heart was in your throat. When things like that happen, it is hard to think straight. Seems like you handled it well and the story has a happy ending. Glad it all worked out for you.

Well, it's a funny story now, right? You poor thing, though. Rough morning. If the worst case had happened, 11 months on the wait list is usually plenty of time for things to sort out and you usually end up with what you need.
