Landon had his 2 month check today but was behind b/c he is almost 3 months. He had to get his shots and all and is so pitiful now. I feel so bad for him. I hope he does not get sick and keep a fever from them. I just gave him some tylenol so I hope it helps some.

They did his weight check and it was not good. He is only 9lbs 11 ozs at almost 3 months old. He barely hits the 5th percentile in his weight and head size. His lenght was 24inches so he is in the 50th percent in that. He has grown 3 inches since his last appt about a month and a half ago but only gained a little over a pound. The dr said he is gaining some and it is not good but acceptable for now. He wants to check him in a month and see where he is and if it is not getting better then we will start looing at failure the thrive. I almost cried when he said that. It could mean heart problems, liver problems, etc.. I am thinking positive but it is so scarey. I am really upset that they even want to wait another month instead of just doing some further testing now and refering him to a specialist.

He eats plenty.. he has 5 6oz bottles a day and is keeping them down so I don't know why he is not gaining more weight. The dr said i can go ahead and bump him up to 8oz bottles if I want and see if it helps any.

Please just keep him in your thoughts/prayers that he starts putting some weight on this month.

I can understand how concerned you must be. :grouphug: to you and :wizard: to Landon. I will say a prayer for him.

What a beautiful boy. I hope that all works out, and will say, that some babies really are just small. Go to another one, now, if that will help you feel better. I know that i would fret away the next month, myself. My opinion, of course.

We just got a referal to take him up to UNC Chapel Hill which has a great childrens hospital so I am feeling somewhat better. At least I can hopefully get some answers. THANK GOODNESS!!

Im sure he is gonna be alright but I will pray for him :)

My daughter was always a small baby and I remember how scary it was at first. Well, she is a small kiddo still...26 lbs at three and a half!!! Some doctors are over cautious so keep your head up!!!

DS11 did not gain weight well as an infant. He lost almost a pound in the hospital and took him 2 months to get back to birth weight. He was only about 9 pounds at around 3 months as well. I nursed him and he ate like a pig, nursed and nursed well for 25 minutes, would turn his head to burp himself even and went right back at it. We started solids at 4 months (dr recommendation) and he would eat a LARGE cereal bowl of cereal and 2 LARGE jars of baby food for a meal, again, ate like a PIG. He porked out a bit at about 9 months but as soon as he started walking slimmed down again. He is now in 6th grade and only weighs 65 lbs but is on the tall side of average for height compared to classmates. He is just really, really skinny.

Thoughts and prayers. Some babies are just small. Are you and/or daddy small in size? You can also get Polycose or MCT oil. Ask your doctor. It is a calorie additive that may help. Good luck and I hope all is well. :grouphug:

I'm sure all will be fine. Prayers for Landon heading your way.

I'm hoping everything is just fine and in the meantime I'm sending my thoughts, hugs and prayers for little Landon.... he's adorable by the way!

Try not to worry too much - those measurements are not all they are cracked up to be. :goodvibes DS had a big head according to the percentiles - had to have an MRI to rule out stuff too hard to spell.... turns out he just has a big head!! (Gets it naturally from DH!)

Great pic!

At the same age, my son drank 6-6oz. bottles a day. 5am, 9am, 12pm 3pm 7pm and then 10pm. try adding another bottle during the day. Eventually we stopped the 10pm bottle. We used to give it to him while he slept.

Hope things get better.

Aww, I'm sure he'll be fine.

I know you are very concerned and I can totally understand that. But, remember...he grew 3 inches in 1.5 months. That is a good sign. I know that doesn't guarantee that nothing is wrong, but seriously...try to remain positive.

Definitely keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, I understand how scary it can be when you don't know what is going on. {{{HUGS}}}

My youngest DD was the same way, at a year old she was in the 1st% for weight. She had silent reflux, we had her on meds and AR formula. It made a difference. At 29 months she's up to 26lbs. or 20th%. You wouldn't know by looking at her that she's underweight. She eats more than her almost 5 year old sister and she eats EVERYTHING.

He could have silent reflux, the only reason we found out about it with DD was during an apnea spell. I hope you find out what's going on with him soon!

Hope everything will be okay. Keeping him in my prayers. :grouphug:

My twins were both admitted to the hospital for failure to thrive. At 7 months they were 10.5 and 11 pounds. They ended up putting a feeding tube in one of the twins (just for nighttime use--a constant drip into his little belly), but the other did not need it. They put them both on a super high calorie and fat fomula. By the time they were a year old they both made it back on the growth chart (7-10 %). They were in the -25-40% when they were admitted.

I blame most of it on myself. I was trying to breastfeed both of them and was not producing enough milk for them both. It was an intresting couple of months for us.

At 3 months and 9.5 pounds, I would look into getting the high calorie and fat formula for a few bottles a day. It was fairly expensive, but our insurance helped offset some of the cost.

Good Luck to you!!

More prayers & thoughts for you! And I do know how you feel!
Mine had one of two heart surgeries when he was 18 months old, the second at 5 years old. It most certainly has been the scariest thing we have ever dealt with.
Hoping for the best for you & your family! :wave2:
