OK, so I know I want to see a lot in one day, but since I'm used to Disney vacations I know how to go go go!!!
We are staying at the Grand Californian for a few days in June and we'd like to take a day trip to LA and I was thinking of doing the following starting first thing in the morning:
Park at Hollywood and Highland
walk around this are and see Gauman's Chinese Theater and walk of fame
La Brea Tar Pit (I assume we have to drive there) spend an hour or so in the museum.
Have late lunch at Pink's Hot Dog Stand
Walk around Farmers Market
Then drive up to Santa Monica
I'd also like to include a drive-by of Rodeo, Sunset Stip and any other cool areas to see.
Any suggestions or comments would be most welcome!!!
OK, so I read through Fairycat's VERY helpful sticky at the top of the board and revised our itinerary. Plus I maped things out on Googlemaps so I got a better "lay of the land". And here is what I came up with, keep in mind we are going on a Sunday
8am breakfast at The Griddle Cafe
(One of my guidebook lists an address right near the cafe as having a good view of the Hollywood sign!)
After Breakfast go to the Hollywood and Highland complex to park and walk around the area. If we didn't get a good view of the Hollywood sign then check out the balcony for a view.
Go to La Brea Tar Pits
Go to the Farmers Market
Go to Pinks somewhere in between depending on appetites and length of line.
Have dessert at Pinkberrys
Drive down Santa Monica Blvd and pass through Beverly Hills
Take Santa Monica Blvd to Ocean Ave
I'd like to be in Santa Monica by 5pm so we can also see Muscle Beach and Venice Beach before dark. From what I understand we can walk (or maybe rent bikes) from the Santa Monica Pier south to these locations.
Possibly have dinner at the place Fairycat recommended but that seems north of Santa Monica right? Is it in Malibu?
Sounds like a fun LONG day
