I have three kids...ages below. We are staying at BWV in Aug. for 3 (waitlisted for a 4th) and 4 nights at SSR (5 if we don't get the 4th at BWV) and I was wondering if they might enjoy SAB? We are going back in Jan. for a trip and just thinking ahead. Thanks

Thought I would add....we are staying at BWV but might like to try BCV on another trip. Just wanting some info. on SAB. THANKS

Your kids would love Stormalong Bay, however you are not allowed to pool hop there, only use it if you are staying at BCV. They check room keys and give wrist bands out most of the time.

You can't hop to Stormalong Bay unless you are staying at Beach Club. They are always checking ID's and give out wristbands. You can't poolhop to Animal Kingdom Lodge either...

Boardwalk pool is nice though, and GF and Poly are nice as well!

OH I was not asking for pool hopping. LOL We are new to DVC don't really know about pool hopping. I was just asking because we could have booked at BCV or BWV and I chose BWV. Then a good friend said she thought they would like Storm A Long. SO what all is there at SAB? thanks

You do know that Stormalong Bay is at Beach Club, not Boardwalk, right?

So, you can only go there *if* you are staying at Beach Club.

It has a tall slide, a toddler slide, sand bottom pools, a small lazy river, and a "beach" area for kids.

I guess my post wasn't too clear. Yes I know SAB is at BCV......I was just asking if anyone thought my age children would enjoy that pool....so maybe we will try staying there sometime. We could have stayed there also in Aug. but I chose BWV. :)

Oh yes, they will enjoy it. It's the best pool on property in my opinion -- that's why they had to but a gate around it! :thumbsup2

edk35- I asked the same question a while back and someone posted a perfect picture to give you an overview of SAB. Here is a link to the old thread. Picture is in post #14.

Only trouble is the pic doesn't show the pirate ship slide. Now that does look like fun. You can see the pirate ship from the Boardwalk. People climb the stairs from there and you get on the slide. It goes over the BCV walkway, lake beach, and down into the pool.

And no, the pool is not handicap accessible. That's my personal rant. But my swimming loving nieces and nephews would love it. I'd just get bored sitting poolside watching them have all the fun.

TOP LEFT! TOP LEFT!! I thought that was the pirate ship slide, but I've never been to SAB, so I might be wrong. Looks like a pirate ship slide though.....

ok everybody-the OP knows that SAB is not at BWV!! He is just asking about next time if he should book there!! The OP is not planning to illegally pool hop!!

Personally I would not book BCV in JAN, especially if SAB is the draw. You really can't expect it to be warm enough to swim in Jan. :sad1: I would switch and do this vacation in BCV if possible and BWV in Jan. BCV is a very "summery feel" resort if you know what I mean. i think BWV, VWL and SSR are better themed for winter visits.

Thank you. Yes if next Jan. is anything like this past one...IT WILL BE COLD. How this entire thread came to be was....when I called MS for my Aug. dates..they gave me my choice of BCV for three nights or BWV for 3 nights. I thought BWV would be fun. Then a friend thought maybe BCV might be better because of SAB but when I called back..I could only get 1 night. Well I don't really want to bounce around to three different places on our very first DVC trip so I kept my ressie like it is. BUT..now that I know that SAB is a fun place....we will try it on another trip....maybe Aug 08.

Oh I stand corrected. That is the pirate ship slide. It looks so flat from above. On ground level it's huge. Blocking the sun huge.

Am I wrong or does it empty into the lazy river? When I was there it sure looked like a lazy river pool with swirling currents and all. But maybe that was just from the slide emptying.

Anyone know how deep the different areas of the SAB are?

The zero entry kids sand area is about 1 foot deep max, the lazy river area gets about 8 feet deep in spots which older kids love (good swimmers), the area in front of B&C and the slide exit are about 3 and 4 feet.

Hey back again after missing all the daytime discussion. All I can say is we could have bought BWV but bought BCV because of the pool. It is great and sure it can be cool in Jan but many times we have used it then and it was warm and less crowded. So yes, your kids will love it any time you can go! You could wait list for August and see what happens..

Regarding the slide, it is at the end closer to Beach Club and empties into the pool there, the lazy river is more in the center where all the bridges are and near Hurrican Hanna's The baby pool is closer to the Yacht Club side.
