I just made a reservation yesterday at Vero. I ws told that a new memo had come out at DVC and that they would not longer allow requests for ocean views if the caller was reserving a 1 Bed Room unit or larger. The agent said I could only request an Inn Room with an ocean view. This suprised me quite a bit. Has anyone got any information on this? As usual thanks for any help.

I don't have a definitive answer, but indeed I did read this policy on these boards earlier.

Good luck, but ocean views tend to be very limited anyway.

I was told the same thing by MS.

The only way to guarantee an ocean view is to book an ocean view inn room.

I asked about the 1br's and higher and she said they no longer take requests for an ocean view becaue too many people were upset when they did not get it.

I suppose if you reserve a studio then an ocean view can't be requested either.

I reserved a 2br in May for next April and requested ocean view. A few weeks ago, I called to have them apply my banked points first (from an add-on) It was at that point that MS told me they had to remove my ocean view request. I suspect that most everyone requested an ocean view and only a few lucky people would actually get it.

I have been to Vero and understand the issue that you have to be on the 3rd or 4th floor to get an ocean view. I know Doc had a very good idea of the breakdown of rooms at various DVC resorts.
Perhaps he migh offer some information on this.
I was hoping that Vero had an Ocean view 1 Bed Room in the main building on the 3rd or 4th floor but obviously I was not able to get them to commit to that. As a fall back position I requested a 1 BR on the highest floor available. DVC would accept that when I called. Hopefully I'll get a 3rd or 4th floor and be lucky enough to get ocean view not garden view. Either way it will be a good vacation. I have alwasys made requests and understood that they were not guaranteed. Has DVC had so much trouble with people that they won't even allow an ocean view request? It isn't very good advertising for the resort that they won't even consider a request. Seems counterproductive to a good sales image. Does anyone know the breakdown of the rooms in the various Vero buildings?

Bob - the Inn only has Inn rooms - garden view or ocean view. They are different from studios.........maybe someone who has stayed there can elaborate. Even when we had a ground floor, parking lot view, the villa was beautiful. Our balcony was on the side - but it was still very quiet and such an easy walk to the pool. If I ended up with that room, I would still be happy. The only "ocean view" we ever had was when we stayed in the beach cottage. Since we can't reserve that every year, I am just happy to stay at Vero, no matter what. Because of the dunes and landscaping, if I had to bet, I would guess that each building might only have 1 or 2 villas which could actually have an ocean view. That's just a guess though.

Thanks for the information, Mary. I am aware of the Inn Rooms we stayed in one about 3 years ago. I was not aware that the main Inn building only had Inns rooms. I was under the impression there might be some 1 & 2 Br units in the main building. I agree it is a great resort no matter where you stay!

the Inn is the only high structure - most of the villa only go to the 3rd floor - we got a great view of the ocean from a 2-bedroom - also kept in mind that the beach cottages are in front of the villa - so you must be on the 3rd floor to get a view of the ocean at all.

I would think that at 3-bedroom Beach Cottage would guaranteed a ocean view too - but I can understand not wanting to spend the points for a GV.

from the map I would guess that it may be has 4 - 2bedrooms that would have a ocean view in each unit - so 12 in all- that is not a whole lot.
