Could my dh "handle" Mexico?

My SIl and BIL love mexican food, and the kids love quesadillas and chips... but dh is the stickler in the group (me, I'm a disposal, I'll eat anything, and love anything spicy or new.) DH does not really like peppers or onions or celery or black beans. In fact -- when we get chinese food, he orders fried rice and LITERALLY sits and picks out EVERY DICED ONION.

So... would SAI be totally off his play list? I thought perhaps my SIL would enjoy it (and the family would enjoy the atmosphere -- it seems pretty cool!) But if it means dh going hungry, well.... despite his hangups, I do love the man. He does eat Mexican food -- we have a restaurant here that he usually orders beef enchiladas from. I guess any peppers are either well-hidden or large enough to pick out.

Typical DH-friendly choices are what I call "separatist" meals, where every item is distinguishable... meat, potato kinda guy. Should I lean instead towards Teppanyaki, or LeCellier? We've done Teppanyaki before (very good). Never done LC. Any other Epcot ideas? I figure Marrakesh is out.

THANKS

Unless SAI has changed it is not your normal Tex-Mex type stuff that we Americans are used to. They do have a few taco type dishes on the menu but my understanding from the reviews is that they were not that good. We went a few years ago and tried to steer clear of the Tex-Mex items and tried to be a little more adventurous. We were not really impressed by our choices, however, the queso fundido was quite good.

Overall it might be a good place for your DH since the food was not overly spicy. If he does not like the unusual then he may be disapponted. Check out the menu here at allearsnet.

It's so dark in there he'd never see what he was eating anyway!LOL We love SAI. My DD & DGD are the same as your DH and they love the food there and are eating stuff they normally wouldn't touch because they can't see it. I don't say a word.......:teeth:

I had a really good steak there last month. It came with shrimp and some mashed potatos. It was spiced up a little but not too much. We like the place very much and will return.

I had the first entree on the dinner menu - the beef filet. While it is served with things he might not like, I must assure you that it was one of the best pieces of meat I've ever eaten. Perhaps they can leave off the things he doesn't like or make a substitution.

A compromise is to eat at the Cantina outside. Those of you who want to can get some basic Mexican favorites while your DH grabs a burger or something else nearby. Then, you can all eat together at the Cantina.

Although I'm not a picky eater, I DO NOT like anything that is spicy hot...not even what is considered "mild". I read several DIS posts saying there were plenty of menu choices that would be ok for me, so I went ahead and made a PS. I asked the waiter and ordered his recommendation from the menu. According to DH it wasn't hot, but the pain was too intense for me and I couldn't eat it. I love to go in for the shopping, but will never eat here again. Restaurant Marrakesh is one of my favorites! Plenty of no-heat food options and we just love the entertainment during dinner!
