Could I do better anywhere else?

I made reservations this morning at All Stars for one night before checking into Wilderness Lodge the following day. We needed two rooms and ended up with a price of approx. $150 total. Could I do much better off site or through Priceline or would you even bother trying? We arrive late and will just go to bed then leave in the morning but I don't want a roach motel either.

Appreciate any advice! If it matters we are 5 adults (3 of which are teens and barely adults but adults nevertheless.)

if you have a car - definitely priceline near WDW.

now if you don't have a car - then you can still use priceline but instead of being close to WDW - you want close to the airport. most of the airport hotels have a shuttle. they will transport you back and forth to the airport. So you can still use the DME the next morning.

Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista is $39.99 a night through www.travelzoo.com. We stayed there Monday night -- total bill including tax was $43 something. It was clean and in a good location in the Downtown Disney area. Nothing plush but fine for a night. It's large with several buildings -- the arrangement is a little convoluted.

They also were very nice to us considering how little we paid. We checked in an hour early and out an hour late since I had the pleasure of spending $700+ getting our car a/c fixed on check out day -- nothing like having you a/c to break in Florida in August. After we spent that unexpected $, I was really glad we had moved to that hotel for one night!

The nice thing about stay at the All Star resort, is you can let disney transfer your luggage to the WL while you go off to the parks. If you stay offsite and checkout, then you'll have to pack your bags up and move them to the WL.

Also, by staying at the AS resort, you can take advantage of EMH morning when you wake up without having to go and check into the WL first.

Just a couple things to think on.

Yes, we will have a car. Any advice on how to get a decent room through Priceline? Perhaps getting one of the Downtown Disney resorts? I know nothing is guaranteed. Thanks!

If you don't mind staying out from DTD a bit, I'm sure you could do better. Maybe like $50-55 per night. Total with taxes $124. I think the Hilton in DTD was going for around $69 per night on Priceline. I think I read a recent post that Sheraton Safari was going for around $55 per night on Priceline.

But, there is a huge advantage of letting Disney transfer your luggage from one hotel to the other. Really, you just take off for the parks, and Disney does the rest. It is so simple. That's a big perk for me, especially since the parking situation at the WDW resorts isn't the most consumer friendly.

If you decide to stay at AllStars, I would suggest that you pack overnight bags to take to your room, and let bell services store the rest for you. That way you are not schlepping all that luggage for one night.
