Could I ask a favor about the children's menu at WDW? Could you list what is on it?

I'm trying to decide between purchasing the adult plan or the child plan for our 9 year for our Dec trip. We are DVC memebers. However, when I look at the children's menus on allearnets they don't look complete or maybe I'm missing something. I was looking at the Roaring Forks children menu today and it showed chicken fingers. That's it. Well, I know she would rather have the grilled cheese or cheeseburger or turkey sandwich. So wouldn't be great if those that are going soon could list what was actually on the menu? or what they were able to substitute.

I can't completely answer your question, but when I took my DN13 last month, he really didn't care for any of the adult menu items. We often ended up ordering off of the kids menu -- most places didn't have a problem with it. The only place I'd feel that I wasted my money was on buffet of family style where I was paying the adult price for him but he was eating off of the kids listings anyway.

If they were able to substitute for him, I'm sure they would accomodate your DD.

OurDog Cisco,
Not sure if you're asking specifically about Roaring Forks or not.
The menu is correct - only chicken nuggets and fries on the kids menu. DD and I shared my burger one meal.

As for the other restaurants, the allearsnet menus are fairly accurate. I chose our CS and TS restaurants based on these.
At CS, DD9 ate Macaroni & Cheese 3X, Chicken Nuggets and Fries 2X, Mini Corn Dogs and Fries 1X, Grilled Cheese 1X
At TS she ate Mac & Cheese at WCC, Chicken at Teppanyaki, Chicken Nuggets at Sci-Fi, Fish and Chips at Rose & Crown, Pasta with Tomato Sauce at Le Cellier, same as us at Ohana, Boma, LTT,WCC

Lori,

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. I guess, I am shocked that there was only one item on the menu for kids. I guess, I'll just have to look through more of the menus to find out if I should get her the adult plan or the child plan. I guess, in the past if my kids didn't like what was on the kids' menu we'd just order food from the adult menu. I'm even thinking my 6 year old will probably want something different from time to time.

I can't speak for the WL but most of the resort CS are much more flexible about what kids can order. At PO-FQ they explicitly told us kids could have any entree they wanted without a side instead of a kids meal including burgers, pizza, sandwiches, etc. I think PO-FQ offers 2 kids meals which if you eat there a number of times doesn't work out well. Due to this policy we ate at PO-FQ a few more times than we had planned because it was easy and our kids got more variety. If you have 2 kids I think buying the adult plan for the 9 year old is great because the 2 kids can share apps and mix and match when someone prefers and adult/kids meal or adult/kids dessert. If the one eating the kids protions is still hungry the 9 year old should have plnety to share as well.

Most of the kids menus are very limited. It was good for our DS 6 - chicken strips everyday. But my DD 10 was very glad she was considered an adult.

I have a 10 year old and a 5 year old. my plan is to let the younger one eat off the adult selection and the older one eat of the childrens. That way they are both happy and we are using the correct credits. Disney don't have a problem as we phoned to ask.

It seemed as if most CS only had 2 kids choices while we were there. My kids are pretty adventurous eater for their age and we were pretty disappointed in most cases.

My oldest is 10, so she gets the adult meal plan. No problem. 8 year old knows what is on the menu and was VERY mad that she was going to have to order from kids menus. They stink! We were able to upgrade her to adult status for our upcoming trip. This will be our first time on the DDP. We usually pay OOP and use DDE. Neither of my kids have ever ordered from kids menus. They may order adult meals and share, but never kids. YUCK on the selection available!

If we like DDP and use it again, I will pay for her to eat off adult menu or I will pay OOP for her to get what she wants. I can't imagine holing her into the kids menus for vacation.

Like at Pizzafari-no pizza on kids menu
Pecos bills-no burgers on kids menu
it is like that at most CS. Whatever they are "known for", not on kids menu
and lots of hotdogs and cold chicken strips

TS is a little better but never the good desserts! And the choices are very limited on the entrees and apps.

Good Luck with your decision!
