Could Hollywood Studios retheme to ONLY Star Wars or science fiction?

It seems that the rumors have at least half of Hollywood Studios closing over the next year --- Sounds kinda extreme, unless they are approaching a retheming of epic proportions.

Losing the back lot tour seems like a final nail in the coffin for a "Hollywood" themed park. It seems like they have to reinvent themselves in some capacity. Pick a theme and maximize it.

I don't car if it is Star Wars, science fiction or something else....but hopefully it won't be a mish-mosh of randomness.

I think they could still keep a "Hollywood" type theme, just not the way it is structured now. I say keep the entrance and sunset blvd land the same. Update the great movie ride, change the Beauty and the Beast show (should always be their latest hit), and I think that section is good to go. We know Pixar and Star Wars Expansions are pretty much a done deal. Instead of making the theme about the movie making process, in the other lands make it about the actual studios/properties they own.

Lucasfilm land (maybe...World of Lucasfilm) based on what we assume could be contained around Echo Lake and back a bit. There they can use both Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and any other Lucas stuff they want. Obviously it would mainly be Star Wars, but it would give them a chance to freshen up/change a Indy Jones attraction. I could also see a small attractions based on more obscure Lucas stuff (THX 1138, Red Tails, Hook, Laberynith, American Graffiti, etc.)

Next, expand Pixar Place back into Street of America and surrounding areas.
Keep the name or call it Pixar Studios. I think we all have a pretty good idea of what rides and attractions might be coming with it.

Finally, expand Animation Courtyard into an actual full sized land focusing on all of Disney's animation. Call it Disney Animation Studios. Some of the existing attractions could stay, but freshen them up a bit. Add in a ride or two, maybe a new experience, and you have a full fledged land. Maybe an Aladdin, or Tangled Ride to name a few.

I would love for them to add a fifth land, but space and legal issues probably would prevent that. Imagine a Marvel Universe land and the draw that would have. They could try to squeeze it between Animation Courtyard and the back of Subset Blvd. But alas for now we can dream.

Just some thoughts, some obvious, but others not so much.

I just went to HS yesterday and I was telling my family how much potential they have with this park. My ideas are:

Make a Star Wars land near the current Star Wars ride right now, but don't get rid of anything around it!

Expand the Pixar area where toy story mania is. Make a third track to toy story mania (which they are doing right now). Make a Monsters Inc Rollercoaster (focusing on the door scene). That would be extremely cool.

Update the Great movie ride. This ride has been the same all these years. It really needs some updating. I would like the ride a lot better. Maybe they should include villains like maleficent and cruella de vil.

And lastly, make a Cars Land like Disneyland has. Carsland would attract so many more kids to Hollywood studios. CarsLand would consist of Radiator Springs, Radiator Springs Racers, and a lot of other cool rides that would attract kids!

Hollywood studios needs to add and not get rid of rides and attractions! It has so much more potential in my eyes, and over the years, I hope to see a major update.

I love Star Wars and love Pixar so I'm pleased both of these IPs are getting expanded but i do worry whether by the time they're done, it's going to overshadow the rest of the park.

I think the majority of a Star Wars addition would be a "Phase II." Doesn't seem to have been enough time since they purchased the franchise to Imagineer it, do all the design work and plan drawings.My gut feeling is that this Phase will be mostly Pixar related since they have probably "dusted off" a lot of older plans.

Yes but a Harry Potter only theme park wouldn't work nor would a Star Wars only theme park. No theme parks have only one theme.

Somebody lives under a rock. Seriously Star Wars could easily support a park and I would expect RnR and ToT to stay.

As for the rest, yes I do think they will re-theme DHS into a Sci-fi/thrill ride park. This will definitely help to keep the US target demographic onsite instead of going to US. If there was a good theme park for the teens then instead of 3 days of Disney and 2 days of US, it would cost a lot less and make much more sense to just stay on site and visit what ever the new name of DHS is.

The options floating around have been to revamp DHS or to build a new park. Converting DHS into a new theme is a lot more cost effective.

That is the only place I've heard with one theme and I guess I was talking about major theme parks like disney, universal, six flags, and even sea worlds main parks don't have one theme except for animals but that is pretty broad.

The holy land experience has only one theme. I would rather have Star Wars.

But honestly, a Star Wars/pixar park would kill. Plus they could continue to add in fringe marvel characters that aren't included in Universals licensing rights.

Agree - I don't see the need to try to create an entire park from Star Wars. There is plenty of room at DHS to do some very impressive things with this IP and still also do the same with Pixar, such that at the end of the proverbial day, DHS could be a ridiculously incredible park, appealing to all ages. Disney has always been -- and will presumably always be -- focused on family entertainment, and creating a single park based on Star Wars (or villains or whatever) is going to exclude a lot of people...and their wallets. If someone doesn't like Star Wars but still likes Pixar, they'll still go in a park that has both. But if the park is just Star Wars, there are people who won't go at all.

DHS has always been toward the top of my park list as a favorite. Can't wait to see what's about to happen to it, as I see it as primarily adding new things and not really taking away anything that has had any life to it in recent years (AI, BLT, BAH, etc.).

Not at all. There are lots of female Star Wars fans, for sure. Don't want people to think that I'm close minded, but economically speaking, it doesn't make sense to open a park based on a male-oriented franchise. A park can't simply rely on the fans of the franchise to work properly. It needs those girls with princess dresses as well.

I mean, I'm sure many boys love the Disney princesses as well (myself included), but that wouldn't justify a princess-focused theme park. Hence the last minute ''Hey, let's build a small roller coaster at New Fantasyland so the boys can come as well!''
