Could Disney change the ADR 180 days policy to match FP+?

I'm looking into planning a DLR vacation and noticed their restaurant reservations are booked at 60 days instead of 180 days like WDW. That got me to thinking, wouldn't it be better if Disney changed the ADR policy at WDW to 60 days to match the FP+ reservations? Especially considering the park hours change and touring plans change between 180 days and 60 days it would be easier to plan and match your FP+ reservations with your park days (especially for those of us that don't hop.) Disney would still get guests locked in and their planning could be done at the same time rather than trying to match up what you did four months ago with the FP+ you were trying to book.

I think this would be the best thing they could do!!!

This way planning your vacation isn't a 6-month process. you'll also get a lot less people who suck up all the ADRs only to cancel them later on.

It also fits in with the plan of Disney to have people hard lock in plans.

I love the idea of matching them up to the same time. It is crazy!
I know people who don't even decide to go on vacation but 4 months before. By that point they have missed out on a lot of ADRs.

Actually this could be a good thing. People will prioritize what they do. Some people will care more about ADRs and some people will care more about FP+. So you could have less competition for stuff.

Disneyland cannot be compared to Disney World when it comes to mindset of the guests with things like ADRs. DLR has much less planning involved, largely because of a much greater number of local and day guests. 60 works there, and apparently most people don't book that far out anyways. WDW is a different beast, and 180 days works well there.

I would have no problem with this if they did it, in fact it would probably be preferable. As long as everyone has the same window to work with it's fair whether it's 180, 90, 60 or any other number. I love to plan and did my ADRs at 180+, but I've also changed several of them a few times and I still have 130 days to go. Making it 60 would cut out at least 50% of my changes.

Yeah, it kind of doesn't make sense right now.

I also think they need to have all of the parades and fireworks loaded when the FP+ windows open. That's a whole other sort of insanity trying to check for those!

And if they could align the dessert party with something (ADRs or FPs) that would help as well. And the BOG FP+...the list goes on!

As morethananyonex stated thaey did change it from 180 down to 90 and it was a nightmare. I was very glad they changed it back to 180 days. I am strongly against changing it to 60 days. It is just too complex at WDW.

Last year they held back BOG reservations for a bit (not sure if they are still doing that) and closer to my date I was able to get a dinner reservation when they had been sold out for months prior.

I know that we've tried to plan according to Josh's and WDW's calendars, but between 6 months and 2 months they often change, then you are locked into a less preferred park due to an ADR you can't reschedule. Sure you could upgrade to hoppers but I don't like hopping for restaurants. I prefer to schedule my ADRs for the park (or near the park) I plan to be at that day. Again, if I'm not hopping and I have an ADR at CRT then I need to make FP+ for MK, which might not be the preferred park that day.

Also, going with the idea of the spontaneous (kinda,) if you want to book a trip in 3 months you need to know that your dining options may be limited and that certain things will most certainly be gone unless you can do a swap with someone, have an amazing travel agent or are just incredibly lucky. If they lowered it to 60 days then you could still book a trip on a short time frame and be able to fully enjoy the parks and all they have to offer.
