Could anyone think of a reason the 10/15-10/22 7n doesn’t have VGT

Hi everyone!

I am looking at doing a seven night cruise on the fantasy in October 2022 and I’m looking at the cruise that leaves on the 15th and it’s the only one on the fantasy in October that doesn’t have VGT as an option. Does anyone have any idea why it could be that way? Is that a popular week to sail? I looked and there are a TON of veranda rooms available.

School fall breaks maybe? We sailed on Oct 15th last year and our sailing had literally double the amount of total guests and more than triple the amount of kids as the cruise immediately before us.

I will keep an eye on it. I just went through all the availability for rooms and there are a TON. I am wondering if it is just a website cliché and it will be different a few days from now.

For a long time the only Europe cruise that didn’t have a *GT rate was the Norwegian Fjords - they added it about a month after the rest.

So could just be they’ll add closer to the time.

My guess would be fall breaks and they possibly already have or expect more staterooms booked for that cruise than other fall cruises. It doesn't mean there won't be *GT offered, but they may come out closer to sail date.

Glad my kids are grown. Seems like kids are always on a break these days. Fall break? New one on me.

I’ve never heard of fall break. I know in northern east coast states they may have a winter break as well as spring break but I don’t believe fall breaks are that popular.

When I was in school we got two weeks at Christmas and one week for Easter.
Here they now get a full week for Thanksgiving instead of Thursday and Friday I got, and the full President's day week off. We just got President's day.
Not sure how working parents with young children arrange child care with them having to cover five weeks a year. At least with summer there are summer school, Daycare and summer camp programs.

Interesting. We are booked on the 10/10 5 night Dream during our fall break (AZ teacher with school aged kids). I just rebooked it with the VGT saving over $2000 from opening day (or close to it).

We start school 8/3. We have 9 weeks, 1 week fall break. 9 weeks, 2 week winter break. 9 weeks, 1 week spring break, 9 weeks- out the Wed/Thurs before Memorial Day.

We have had fall break in Georgia for many years. Very popular in southern states. Our kids start to school earlier, so they have a fall break, thanksgiving break, Christmas break, winter break and then spring break.

We loved the extra breaks - made travel much easier!

Schools that start in August usually have a fall break. Summers breaks are shorter now than when I went to school. I think shorter Summer breaks and more breaks during the school year are great for families.

People use the same childcare options for the breaks that they do for summer. The same people who offer summer childcare also offer for the extra breaks.

Nice. I booked a b2b VGT cruises on the Dream in Sept. It was about 2400 total for both cruises. If my DH decides to join us for the 4-day it will only cost about 300 to add him. The rates on the Dream are great this Fall.

Not here. Before I retired we had to juggle a lot of co-workers schedules to help them deal with the lack of child care during those mid-school year breaks. And most folks don't have enough vacation time to take off work that many weeks during the school year.

Here it is no issue.

(1) I suspect some of that may have been cost/choice rather than a flat out lack of options (2) Or, people use that as vacation time and go on Disney cruises, explaining the point in thus thread, and (3) it is all tradeoffs—when we lived on the east coast we had no fall break but s week off for thanksgiving, now we get a fall break in October but only 2.5 days off for Thanksgiving, so the childcare burden ends up being a wash.

I’ve noticed when googling fall breaks it seems to be the week prior for most schools and states I’ve looked up.

Many times the most expensive weeks end up getting discounts. If Disney priced the first two weeks in Oct higher anticipating they would sell due to Fall break and they didn't that could be why. Labor day week was the first GT rate posted in September. I would give it some time.

Now it seems there aren't enough slots for the usual summer programs. They can't find people to hire to staff them.
