okay...before i help, lemme just give you my tips.
with costumes
-you really dont want anything to drag on the ground. its terrible and its also a safety hazard.
-avoid high heels, or big and clunky boots.
-white (or light colored) gloves really are to be avoided too. i wore white gloves two years ago, and by just going on rides, they came back black.
-wigs and colored spray arent too bad. but remember, even if its going to be at night and its going to be cooler, you will sweat. with a wig, its hotter because youre head naturally releases heat, and your own hair, beneath even more hair is double the hotness. with spray, if not applied properly with a good brand and hairspray, youll sweat it out and it will run down your face/neck and onto your costume. which is bad. if youre dead set on spraying/wearing a wig, lemme know, i can help you more
-no fake weapons. it just isnt worth it to make/buy something really cool and have them confenscate it. if you must have a gun/sword, i recomend buying it at POTC inside the park
-wings arent too bad. just remember, walking through crowds could cause you to hurt someone, or for someone to hurt your wings. they also can get snagged on things.
-your friend is doing tink, correct? take it from someone who did her 3 years back. shorts! shorts! shorts! no matter the length of the skirt i highly recommend shorts beneath skirts. trust me, getting on and off space mountain in little skirts stinks.
okay, as for a costume. hmmm. if youd really like to wear a gown, get out your phone book and look under costumes. try to find costume places where you can rent things. a gown, would require petticoats and possibly a crinilin (hoop skirt) this is probably going to cost a good $40 to $50. but id try and compromise with them.
you could do something from the phantom of the opera, meg seems easy. i bet you could also find a good dress for christine at a thrift store.
try google searching costumes. if you list some things youre interested in, i could help more that way. or you could also just wait until the first week of october when iparty and party city are rolling out their costumes. hot topic also has some that come out in oct. i know that if you sew youre on costumes, each pattern book keeps their costume selection out year round. try checking there too. simplicity has a pattern for christines masqurade gown, but its $16.99.
i know this didnt help much, but i tried.
