We love Costco but what we buy there is mostly not groceries. I was wandering past the freezer section tonight and was noticed their Angus beef patties and wondered how they are. I have gotten organic burritos there but that's about it. Are there any Costco food items you love? I'm going to go wander and see what looks appealing but thought I'd ask here.

I think it's Kirkland brand but not sure....they have these giant bags of BBQ and Buffalo wings. Those are definitely my fave grocery items, but you always have to wait for them to go on sale.

Also, if you have a family, those big boxes of croissants are great for breakfast.

I shopped at Costco every week. I always joke I am addicted to Costco and I ever buy a house again, there has to be a costco within 5 miles.

I don't coupon or bargain hunt at local grocery stores a lot because I don't have time for doing that. Costco is THE place to go for good price and more important, good quality.

I buy all my fruits there. Quality varies, but most of the fruits are very good. I love their cherry, rasberry, blackberry, grapes, mango, apples and bananas.

I buy some of my vegetables there. Cucumbers, tomatoes, bok choy and asparagus are what I buy most.

On the freezer section, there is a big bag of frozen vegetables of brocolli, califlower, and 2 kinds of carrots. I think it's called Normandy Blend or sth. On the days I am too lazy to cook veggies, I just put some of that on the steamer and I got a health side.

Eggs, milk, soymilk, orange juice, I all buy from Costco.

Their desserts are all sooooo good. I highly recommend their cream puff and tiramisu as once in a long while guilty pleasure.

In their deli section, I buy sometime their chiken fettuccini and I agree with the previous post, the coissant is very good.

But again, I don't coupon on stockpile on sale item at local grocery. I do recognize all the stuff mentioned can be way cheap if they happen to be on sale.

The Panko crusted cod in the freezer section is great. I think the brand is Trident. However, my Costco quit selling it for a while, not sure yet if it is back. But it was tasty and low WW points (for any WWers).

The pot stickers used to also be good (and make a quick meal) but I haven't tried those in a while.

I'm all about Costco too, but I'll stick w/ the freezer items since that's what you asked about. I LOVE the new-ish Kirkland pizzas. 4 to a box, I think it's $9.99 or so. Really tasty and great to have on hand. I just tried the box of edamame, which is really cool because there are several individually wrapped servings (a lot, like 10?) and you can microwave them in a few minutes. Great for a snack. We also like the frozen broccoli, because it's easy to have on hand and you don't have to stress out about having a fresh veggie if you have these on hand. That is packaged in (I think) 6 serving bags that I just put in my pressure cooker, 2 of those pouches/bags is more than enough for our family of four at dinner. The cod fish which is like fish n' chips is really good, as are the fish sticks which are more of a kid type meal, my DH and kids love those too. Interestingly enough we HATE the Mickey shaped chicken nuggets. They used to have dinosaur shaped ones which were really good, but the Mickey ones are just terrible. They have some kind of weird fake onion taste. Those are my top picks, maybe I'll think of more later! I store most of this stuff in my garage fridge, so I can't refer to it as far as sizes, sorry! Right now it's super hot here and I hate going in that garage, it's like a sauna. HTH!

I always buy their big bags of hamburger patties. They are great to keep in the freezer. They cook really quick from frozen, so you can have them just about anytime.

I do coupon & stockpile....as I've been doing that for a year I don't buy as much in the pre-packaged food areas as usual....don't get me wrong...the prices are better than reg grocery store prices...unless you track sales really carefully...its pretty competitive. Even with watching sales Costco usually beats my Publix in fresh dairy (milk-butter-eggs), coffee, meat, produce, sandwhich bread, white vinegar, flour (assuming you will go through the 25 pound bag quick enough), wine, and specialty nut butters....like almond butter and nutella. Around the holidays they had good deals on big bags of walnuts and pecans. I like buying underwear, socks, and kids clothes there too (my costco carries hannah andersson & carter's).

My kids go through orange juice so fast, Costco's frozen oj is the only kind I buy. I also get butter, Hebrew National hot dogs, and bacon and freeze all of them. I buy their ground beef and boneless pork chops too. I break them down into smaller ziploc freezer bags and freeze them as well. Their frozen shrimp are also good. When I buy the package of four pork tenderloins, I freeze them two to a gallon ziplock bag with a lemon herb marinade. Then as they defrost in the fridge they are also marinating without any extra work by me. Gotta love it.

If you have a cat, their prices are excellent for cat litter. Watch out for the Nutella, it's very cheap and I buy it way too often!

Costco is our main source of food any more. From the freezer we get hamburger (5 1lb "chugs"), Foster Farm skinless, boneless chicken breasts (its a huge bag, but we just take out what we need), stir fry vegetables, and salmon, and lots of shredded cheese. Last weekend we had a cook day, where a couple of friends came over and we cooked and froze meals for most of the month. We grilled a 10lb beef brisket, a couple pork loin roasts, and at least 12 lbs of chicken breasts. We also had fresh hamburger and chicken for meals that would be frozen raw - all from Costco. But even when just doing regular meals, Costco is a real lifesaver for us.

We use Costco for lots of our grocery shopping. Our staples are:
fresh:
  • grape tomatoes
  • blueberries
  • strawberries
  • asparagus
  • snap peas
  • brussel sprouts if they have them
  • rotisserie chicken
  • milk
  • eggs
  • shredded cheese - mexi and mozz. (we separate into little ziplocs and freeze)
  • yogurt (stonyfield farms)
  • pork chops
  • chicken sausage
  • dubliner cheese
  • brie
  • salsa
  • mango salsa (great in the crockpot with some chicken breasts)
  • yogurt dip with chives
  • sabra hummus

frozen:
  • chicken breasts (individually frozen - super easy)
  • turkey burgers
  • mini pot stickers (4 of them is only 1 WW point :)
  • broccoli

other:
  • crystal light lemonade
  • pop chips
  • goldfish
  • canned wild salmon

We also meander quite a bit and try new things often (that's what the samples are for!) I've been shopping there my whole life, and I've come to one pretty reliable rule - if costco carries it, it's probably very good quality. I rely on that rule so much that I let it replace any research on a product if I'm feeling lazy.

Also, you should note that I don't shop sales or clip coupons. I just buy what we need when we need it and try not to waste food. Given that strategy, Costco works well for us. If we had time and energy to shop sales and clip coupons, it might not be the cheapest, but for the quality, I'm very happy with the value proposition.

Ok we get lots of stuff there. My DH is in love with their prime cuts of beef! In frozen we get the chicken wings (raw ones), edamame, turkey burgers, shrimp, philly style ices in a tube, organic ice cream cook sandwiches, Nathans french fries, Alexia sweet potato fries, and a few other things we will try out.

Fridge section we get HN hot dogs, greek yogurt (kirkland), shredded mexican cheese, eggs, smart balance butter, whipped cream, butter quarters, american cheese.

We love their cilantro shrimp, chicken alfredo and rot. chickens (all prepared foods). We got lots of produce there and paper products.

Movie tickets. Got our phones there a month ago. We get lots and lots there. I can go on and on .....

Great tip about marinating & freezing at the same time. Thanks!

If you have the $ for a treat, the cut flowers are a real bargain. Especially the long stem roses! :flower3:

The peach mango salsa is fabulous!

I love the 10 pound bag of individually frozen chicken breasts (It is about $2/lb).

Rotisserie chicken - $4.99 -- fabulous quick dinner for 4 people with a veggie and starch side dish.

The romaine lettuce (Andy Boy brand) is the best anywhere and there are 6 in a bag for what it would cost for 3-4 in my neighborhood grocery store.

Kirkland brand "egg beaters" are just as good as the name brand and a lot less expensive.

The 5 lb bag of cheese tortellini has often been a lifesaver for an impromptu meal when our friends visit with their 5 kids.

We always buy our Regal movie tickets there. I think they are now 2/$14.99 but that is still a lot less expensive than buying them at our theatre.

Sorry for rambling. Can you tell I am a huge Costco fan?

I've sampled those Angus beef burgers and they were really good. Then I looked at the nutrition data and put that box of burgers back!!! LOL;) We've been trying to eat healthier and most of the food we eat comes from Costco anymore.

These are the things that are usually on my shopping list from Costco:
Amylu Chicken Burgers (in the refrigerated cases)
Healthy Choice Fudge Bars
Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches
Campari or Roma Tomatoes
Box of Spring Mix lettuces
Asparagus
Bag of mini Sweet Peppers
Lots of Fruit
Kirkland Bacon
frozen Broccoli florets
Tilapia Fillets
Thin crust frozen pizzas
Bread
English Muffins
Thin Bagels
Eggs
Milk
Fage Greek Yogurt
Frozen Berries
Odwalla Juice

We like the black bean burgers, the salmon burgers, the mini quiches, and random other frozen things. We like to try whatever is in the coupon book. There are always some good deals in there.

I found this site a while back, the person lives in the UK, but is from the States. She posts reviews of items and also the coupon books. I love to check there since ours usually comes so late.

i forgot to put in my last post....Kirkland brand coffee is brewed by STARBUCKs! and its a good price.

I was wandering past the freezer section tonight and was noticed their Angus beef patties and wondered how they are.

I have no idea, but I can tell you that Costco is a great place to buy ground beef because they are voluntarily testing their meat (and other products) for E. coli:

Kirkland brand coffee is brewed by STARBUCKs!

I think you mean that it is supplied by Starbucks.

I think you mean that it is supplied by Starbucks.

Or maybe it is 'roasted' by Starbucks?

Angus burgers - very tasty for a frozen burger and of course very convenient. But I only bought them once - too many calories.

Frozen foods we buy:
basil pesto tilapia
breaded tilapia
Phillips crabcakes
potstickers
mini chicken egg rolls
kirkland pizzas and dijorno pizzas
spinach and parmesan filled pasta
kirkland lasagna - it's a 2 pack and the perfect size for 3 of us with a bit of leftovers - so two meals plus snack for the midnite fridge raider (otherwise known as a son or growing boy)
farm rich french toast - I warm it in the microwave at work - no syrup needed- but it's not what I would call healthy
frozen treats - way too many! but I like skinny cow stuff and it's really cheap compared to the regular grocery store
last week we got the frozen twix ice cream bars - just a perfect size and very delicious, and I am waiting for them to bring back the lemon sorbet.

Plus lots more...just can't think of all the stuff right now - and I think it is good for my budget!
