My husband and I were talking about doing laundry on the cruise to pack less. Does anyone know the cost to send a load out to have completed by the staff? TIA!

I found that doing laundry on board was so easy to do myself. Nobody was really using washers anyway so I put a load on, had a glass of wine, sat on veranda, went back and moved stuff to dryer, more wine, more veranda, get clothes, then drunkenly fold and throw at family members.

We didn't bring our laundry to be washed, but my husband brought his suit ready to be dry cleaned and sent it to be cleaned our first night because it was less expensive than our home dry cleaners and he didn't have to worry about how wrinkled it would get in transit.

Husband doesn't understand, but pairing socks is much more fun when I throw them at him :)

The machines on the Wonder were both $2.00 for washer and $2.00 for dryer but dryer took a good 2 cycles to dry so it cost me $6.00 for one load.

I received this information today from DCL...

Thank you for choosing a Disney Cruise Line vacation!

I would be happy to assist you.

On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, there are three laundry
facilities onboard for Guests to wash, dry, and iron clothes.

Guests use their Key to The World cards to charge for washer and dryers
services, as well as to purchase detergent and fabric softener. All
Guest laundry facilities are no longer coin operated.

Each facility has 4 washers, 4 dryers, 1 iron, and a detergent vending
machine.

The cost is $2.00 per wash and $2.00 per dryer. The irons onboard are
regular irons with no steam. The detergent is Tide and Clorox 2 and the
fabric softener is Downy. These are available for $1.00 per box.
Machines are not 'HE' (high efficiency).

Complete laundry, dry-cleaning and pressing services are also available.
Price listings and bags are located within the stateroom in the closet.

-Dry-Cleaning Prices range from $6.00 for shirts to $12 for 3-piece
suits.
-Laundry prices range from $3.50 for T-Shirts to $6.50 for pants.

All pricing is subject to change to without notice.

We prefer to do our own. On our last cruise the do it yourself laundry room was right down the hall. Not bad at all.

We are retired and really don't mind doing laundry when it's right down the hall. We are always on vacation. Just a matter of how you like to spend your time and money.

Pressing is 50% off those prices, so what we do on the first day is give the stateroom host all of our dinner clothes to be pressed, with the exception of what we are going to wear that first night. The next day, the host will have all of your clothes pressed and ready to go!

It is worth everything - we did it last cruise and they even folded my underwear. I loved it. So nice to have someone else do this for you - really adds to the feeling of being on vacation!

I nominate this as the greatest post ever.

We always send laundry out. One note: Be aware that they iron little tags onto a seam into each and every piece of laundry. It will have your room number on it. I get little memories every once in a while when a shirt, a pair of shorts or a pair of underwear start scratching me uncomfortably. I'll take said article off, look at the offending area and be reminded, "Oh yeah! That's when we were in stateroom xxxx a couple of years ago!"
