Can anyone tell me the cost of the CD of pictures at Discovery Cove? I seem to remember it was around $100 (or maybe it was $160??), but that was in '07. I also can't remember if it was a set price for the CD. Thanks.

Was just there this weekend. The smaller photo package was $89. The other was $179(if I remember correctly).

Al acarte photos were $25 for each 6x8, $45 for poster size......thats all I can remember. I thought they were really pricey but felt forced to buy them because all the shots my hubby got of the dolphin swim were not very good and of our backs.

I do agree....its hard for non-dolphin swimmers to get good photos of their family members taking part in the dolphin interaction due to the space between the shore and the swimmers, and the fact that the swimmers have their backs to the shore. That's what makes the pictures taken by the in-water park photographers so valuable.

That said, we didn't experience any pressure from DC staff to buy the photos AT ALL. They were very laid back and easy going. The fellow we had simply loaded them up, laughed at a few of them with us (funny faces or expressions), and told him to let us know if we decided we wanted to purchase a package or an item a la carte. And that was it. Very low pressure and low key.

How do they determine who is part of your group for pictures? I'm guessing that if I by the photo CD it will include all of the pictures of my family.

We are traveling with a large family group (11 people) and booked on 3 different confirmations. Is it possible to link all of our photos together?

Also, does dolphin swim DVD contain all people in group even if they are not on your reservation? We have people from each of the 3 reservations doing the swim. Already confirmed that they can "try" to put us all together in one group as there are only 8 doing swim.

I don't know if they will be able to link the 11 people booked on three separate reservations onto one photo CD, but I can confirm that the dolphin swim DVD will include anyone who is in your small group for the session, even if they are not part of your family grouping.

Let's say your group of 11 is split into 2 .... 5 in one dolphin swim group and 6 in another. They will place approximately 3 more randomly selected people with your group of 5 (as DC tries to keep each group to about 8 people), then another two with your group of 6. The "unrelated" individuals in each group will also be featured in the dolphin swim DVD for that group.

Our family of 3 was placed with a family of 5. Had we purchased the DVD of the swim, all 8 of us would have been featured in it.

Do you have to sign some sort of photo release? I wonder what they would do if someone said they didn't want to be on the DVD? Me personally I'm willing to be the star is someone else's DVD (oh wait maybe the dolphins the star lol) but I bet there's some people out there who wouldn't want to be.

Ha! I'm curious to see what other family will get to watch my marriage proposal again and again!! (On June 9th)

I'm trying to decide if I want the DVD. I did a dolphin swim in Mexico on my honeymoon and bought it and was planning on getting this one too but then I thought about the fact that I don't even know where the VHS is from the Mexico one is (I think I know but not 100% sure) and have only watched it maybe once. Of course now with the kids they'll probably want to watch it over and over.

We opted not to get the DVD. I prefer photos to videos (just a personal preference) and knew the DVD would probably get stuck in a cupboard and rarely watched. So, we purchased the package that came with the photo CD, prints and keychains and have never regretted the decision.

I'm a scrapbooker and take 100's of photos every month it seems so the the cd is a definite. I know the kids will want the DVD but if I decide ahead of time that I'm only getting the cd maybe I can actually follow that plan instead of caving in and getting the big package! Gotta figure out how to pay for the two days of Disney somehow ;)

Can you take your own pictures?

You can take your own photos anywhere in the park. However, when it comes to the dolphin swim pictures, you will be restricted to taking photos from the shore (you cannot enter the water) and for the most part, the backs of the participants will be facing the shoreline. They will also be a fair distance away. That generally results in much, much poorer quality photos over what the in-water park photographers are able to capture.
