Cost of model ship...souvenier question

My DS (13) is very interested in purchasing a model of The Magic while we are onboard and would like to have the captain sign it. Can anyone tell me approximately how much one of these model ships cost? He has saved about $200 so far for souveniers. This is the one thing that he would like the most.

Also, what is the best way to have the captain sign it?

I can't help you with the price, but as far as the captain signing it, in January we were on the Western and there was a certain time that the captain was available for autographs. He was at a table and you just waited in line. It was very easy to get his autograph. Hope this helps.

We purchased a beautiful resin model of the Magic for $25 and had the Captain sign it at the time designated in the navigator (I know it was a sea day because DH had to leave Palo brunch early to go get it).

Just a side note: you can ask the captain to autograph practically anything related to the cruise. On the Magic, he was very kind about signing 2 Christmas ornaments, 2 pillowcases (we'd already had the characters sign, but we got the captain, our cabin attendant, and our servers also), and a small plastic model of the ship that our son had bought. We had all the items out of boxes/bags and pens handy, so it didn't take him more than a minute or two.

We purchased one on each cruise - 1999 and 2004 - the models are made of plaster (or similarly heavy material), are about 8 to 10 inches long and cost about $30 or so. They sit on a small circular platform that is about 3/4 of an inch thick. We had the captains sign each one on the face of the platform - a very cool keepsake of the cruise.
