We will be going to HH in a couple of months and I am trying to decide whether we would be better off bringing bikes and chairs or renting them? Also, this is our first trip! Is there anything else we need to know??? Thanks!
I talked to the CM there last month because the member's website said the bike rental was $50 per week. That seemed high to me, and fortunately it's $50 per week for TWO bikes.
The last two times we went it was $50 for the week for two bikes, and then $10 for each additional bike. So for us, 5 bikes cost us $80. We go in about a week, I hope it is the same price.
As far as renting the beach chairs, I don't remember the exact prices, but I know they're not inexpensive. Something like $15 per day/$80 per week for two chairs and an umbrella popped into my mind, but I could be totally off on that. (It's been known to happen before! )
If you're planning on spending a lot of time every day on the beach, you might find it worthwhile. Otherwise, I'd bring mine from home (which is what we usually do) or do what some have done and buy some at Wal Mart on Hilton Head and leave them behind for another guest when you leave.
Don't forget there are two pools to choose from, as well as the beach!
I saw someone sitting in a pool chair on the beach. They left it there too. I thought since my dues would pay for the chairs I took it back up for the person. (of course everyone at the pool thought I had taken the chair down.) Any way I guess they did not want to pay the lifeguard the 15-20 per day for a chair.
I always found buyinga beach chair at a local wal mart (for usually $10!) and using it for the week and then leaving it for another guest to be much more economical!
