Cost for Chef Mickey's Breakfast Buffet?

I am already finding one of the benefits to a solo trip...and that is I can try to get an ADR for Chef Mickey's breakfast finally. However, I am a bit confused.

When I research the price here, it shows the cost (updated 12/09) as being $35.99. When I go to Disney's site, it shows $15-$29.99.

Anyone know what it is right now? I'll be going first week of may, so I dont think that the summer pricing will be in effect yet.

According to allears.net, breakfast is $22.99 and dinner is $29.99.

I suspect the official Disney Web site is either outdated or erroneous. The online menu from December 2009 is probably correct. Breakfast at Chef Mickey's is so popular that the restaurant can essentially charge any price it wants, and people will still clamor for reservations. Though at this point, how much higher can it go? Isn't $35.99 pushing it for a bowl of cereal, a danish and a few pictures with Mickey?

And why is Chef Mickey's $35.99 when the character buffet at Tusker House -- which also includes a meal with Mickey -- costs $20.99? I know where I'm going next time I want to have a character breakfast.

Both allears.net and the 2010 PassPorter guidebook say that breakfast at Chef Mickey's is $22.99. As popular as CM is, I seriously doubt that anyone would pay $35.99 for breakfast there.

One of the difficulties is that it is very easy to misinterpret the prices on the WDW web site. There are a huge number of restaurants that show as "$15-$29.99".

This does not mean that the cost of a meal is $29.99 - it means that this restaurant falls into the "$$" category, for which the typical cost of a meal (however they define that) is more than $15 but less than $30. Many people read that at the buffet locations and assume that one number is the kids' price and one is the adult price.

Interestingly enough, until just recently, the site used a range of $15-$35.99 for a $$ meal. That's where this rumor of a near-$36 breakfast at Chef Mickey's came from. (For comparison, most of the signature locations are listed as "$$$", which runs from $30 to $49.99.)

Curiously, several of the buffets whose dinner cost is more than $30 still are listed as $$ locations, even though they fall outside the $$ range.

Truth is, friends, that the WDW web site tells us very little about the real cost of a meal.

This past February, the cost for an adult breakfast buffet at Chef Mickey's was $24.99 (before tax).
