cosplay and Disney inspired outfits for adults

First - wow - what a great Elsa shirt! Love it. :)

Second - I realized I've been a little crummy about posting my Bounding outfits from my trip. (Mostly b/c I didn't get perfect pictures of them, to be perfectly honest) but you are my Bounding peeps and I've got to share!

Here I am bounding as Village Belle on our last day when we went to EPCOT. (I'm wearing a bow in my hair and the necklace is a book). I wanted to meet her in person but the line was too long so I settled for a picture in France.

Here's me as Princess Leia on our DHS day. Woot!

I was Merida at the Hoop De Doo Review but it wasn't really obvious. It entailed a dark green shirt and a necklace with a bow and arrow on it.

Pocahontas on arrival day because we went to AK:

And I know I posted my Elsa stuff before (I think anyway) but here I was in my hand-painted Elsa shirt bounding in front of the Norway Stave Church!

It's called Disneybounding and a lot of people do it, especially the teen/early '20's crowd! There's even blogs dedicated to putting together outfits to represent characters. It's really awesome and I would like to do it if I could only find the outfits at my local stores! Here's a link to the best Disneybounding blog I've found: http://disneybound.tumblr.com/

Everyone's Disneybounds look great!!! :goodvibes

I'm planning on doing it for I think my third year in late September/early October. In the past, I've done Mr. Smee (last year since I had new glasses I was OBSESSED with), Rapunzel and others. This time, here's what I'm planning:

  • Captain America - This one's actually finished and has been since right after the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It consists of a tank top with Captain America's shield on it from Hot Topic (I think it's supposed to be a guy's but I fell in love and HAD to buy it), black capris leggings (I only wear leggings, no shorts) and a little simple skirt with American flag Bobs and a red and white scarf from Coach ($5 on clearance at an outlet store end of last year) tied in my hair.
  • Melody (TLM II) - I have a perfect top that I used last summer for my Winnie Foster (from the 2002 Disney film of Tuck Everlasting) disneybound and my mom's going to make me the skirt. I'm going to find a bow in that watery teal color for my hair and wear my sparkly bobs (if I can find them again, since I'm needing new ones :goodvibes ) inspired by this picture I found on tumblr:
    tumblr_n8rakumHZg1teq1m3o1_1280.jpg
  • Ariel - This one is a must-do for me, since I'm staying in the Little Mermaid section of Art of Animation. I'm planning on buying the t-shirt (or crop top, haven't decided yet) of Ariel's shells from Adorkable Apparel online and wear my starfish Traci Hines (who also does Adorkable Apparel) made for me a couple years ago...or get a big bow, since I LOVE bows :cutie: ...And that's as far as I've gotten on this one so far
  • Cinderella/Wendy - I definitely know I'm doing this with some sort of light blue dress and my sparkly Bobs (I love them, it's clear)...this one's still a work in progress.
  • Sofia the First - Yep, love her. Romper style dress I've had for about three years now with a white t-shirt underneath and I'm planning on buying Sofia's tiara from the Disney store (especially since I'm possibly going as her to MNSSHP, with a shorter dress...more of a day dress style. No ballgown for me this year. so double usage for the tiara...also, I like tiaras so)
  • Village Belle - Possibly white t-shirt under a dark blue dress I bought at Old Navy years ago, hope to find a bow to match.
  • Loki - He's my favorite (Tom Hiddleston Loki, of course). Last year, I did a all black Disneybound and overheated  , not the smartest idea I know so I'm going to do something with Green with maybe one small touch of black (learned my lesson :rotfl: ) and order a green bow with his horns on it from Etsy that I adore.

I need one more Disneybound that I can't decide on. Maybe Mickey or Roger Rabbit. Or Sally Shine from the Tower of Terror movie. I've been toying around with that idea. :confused3

I also had a cute idea to dress my Duffy (yep, I have a Duffy and I love him) up to match me. I can sew a little (my mom is MUCH better) so I can make him little things and also Build-A-Bear clothes fit him so I can get stuff from there. I'm already planning on making or buying him a Broadway Flounder inspired outfit (yellow shorts and top) for when I'm Ariel and Melody and buying the Thor outfit from Build-A-Bear for my Loki one. My mom already said she wants to make a little Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. outfit for Duffy which will be ADORABLE.

For MNSSHP, I think I'm set too as an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. (I've been LOVING Marvel, obviously) and Sofia the First (but the second one may change) day dress style (below the knee or mid-calf, no ballgown...that was last year for me).

I think about this a LOT while planning so I can start pulling stuff together soon. Can't wait for my trip :goodvibes

I have decided to Disbound for our trip to WDW in February for the Princess Half Marathon Weekend! We'll be there for six days, and I have five days worth of Disbounding planned out (the sixth day is most likely going to be runDisney apparel, since all that is on tap for that day is checking-in to our resort & going to the race Expo). We'll be running the 5K on Friday as Mr. & Mrs. Incredible, and I'll be running the half on Sunday as Snow White. Here's what I have planned so far:

Thursday: runDisney Expo
Friday: The Incredibles running costume for the 5K, Ariel Disbound for Hollywood Studios
Saturday: Jasmine Disbound for Animal Kingdom
Sunday: Snow White running costume for the half, Snow White Disbound for the after-party at DTD
Monday: Village Belle Disbound for Epcot (since that's the version of Belle you get at the M&G in France)
Tuesday: Minnie Mouse Disbound for Magic Kingdom

Yay! I'm so excited! I'll post updates as I start collecting stuff to put the outfits together. I've already found TONS of stuff online through Forever21.

Just curious; how are you going to do Jasmine? I too want to Disney Bound as her but feel she would be great for Epcot. I would like to dress up a bit and found a dress that may work but need some advice. I can post it later tonight. I also plan on getting a gold collar neckless, earings simular to hers, and putting a hair band like hers in my long black hair. I found a site on line that shows you how to fix your hair like hers and it looks really easy. I just am really stuck on what to wear. Just wondering if you had any ideas yet.

I just started brainstorming this morning, and haven't quite decided between wearing a dress or doing tank top w/shorts (I already have a pair of turquoise sandals with a gold bow on them), but here's what I have saved:

Assume! You are off to a great start! I found this dress for Epcot and wanted to know if you see Jasmine when you look at it or should I continue looking. I would prefer to go with either a skirt or a dress for Epcot but was wondering if any one thought it may be too fancy.

Here is the dress

As a second option and believe it or not a bit more expensive option is this top

and this skirt

I think both of those look like Jasmine and a skirt or dress for EPCOT is very normal. (Says the girl who wore a blue dress to be Village Belle in EPCOT.) Honestly, plenty of women prefer skirts or dresses because they can be cooler. Having said that - the first one you posted does look very cocktail-dress-ish. Now...I'm of the opinion that we all need to dress for OURSELVES and who cares what others think?

But I mention it b/c I'm wondering if it won't be terribly comfortable at a theme park, especially if you'll be getting into and out of rides. A skirt like your second choice might work better.

And.... I realized I forgot to show you guys how I dressed as 101 Dalmations at work the other day! Ooops. Now I'm wondering if I already posted this. Oh, well - if I did sorry! (But you are my fellow bounders so I feel the need to connect)

Thanks so much! That does help alot . I did order both since the dress was on clearance I figured it could not hurt to try it. I did like it a bit better but I think you right about the other being more comfortable and possibly more suitable for the parks. Have you seen many people "dress up" or if I did choose to wear the first would I stick out like a sore thumb? The final determination will probally be which one I feel I look better in but I have a strong feeling it would be the second choice.

Just love your Dalmation outfit! That is really cute and quite creative!

If your looking for amazing looking outfits then stay tuned Katt and I are going to get it on at villains unleashed and MNSSHP.
for villains unleashed i will be one of the baddest disney villains around. do you think you know who it is? i can't tell you but stay tuned to my post and you might find out

I think that dress is beautiful! It could go for either Jasmine or Elsa, IMHO. I'm not one to judge what others wear in the parks, and if it makes you feel pretty then more power to you! For me, though, I wouldn't be able to wear something with embellishments, because they rub the skin on my arms raw, which is why the outfit I chose is more casual (comfort! lol). That being said, the outfits I have planned for Village Belle, Minnie Mouse, and Snow White are all either dresses or skirts (with bike shorts underneath, because I plan on riding rides), because I like to feel girly too. The only other outfit I have planned that has shorts is Ariel.

sbmorasch - Can't wait to see your villain outfit! Two of the gals in my running group are dressing as villains (Captain Hook & Maleficent) for the PHM in February.

So glad you like my choice. Still me not wear to the parks but possibly on a date night with the hubby. who knows time will tell. Never thought about Elsa but your right it very easily could.
I am with you on the comfort thing especially on rides. I would never even think about wearing the above dress to Magic Kingdom. I actually wore with shorts or skorts I planned on riding a bunch of rides to and will do that again this time when I go to Magic Kingdom. I fell in love with the running skorts. They were soooooo comfy.
I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your combinations as well as your friends. Have fun guys!

Ah - thanks! I saw your idea about date night for the first dress and I think that would be brilliant. Perfect would be to sign up for one of those late night cocktails and appetizer events after Illuminations! Woot!

My bridal shower theme is Disney Bounding... I can't wait to take pics and post them, I'm very excited to see my older relatives try haha :)

We decided to go this route for our costumes for MNSSHP. We are going in late Sept and I don't want to be hot and uncomfortable in a full-on costume!

We got these ideas from googling disneybounding. DD is wearing a white sundress with her Marie ears and a pink choker/collar. It is totally adorable!! Then we were looking for ideas for me and found a royal blue sun dress with black and yellow flowing panels at the bottom that looks just like Dory. We clicked on the pic, not expecting to find it and were linked to Walmart where it was on clearance for $13! Throw a Nemo necklace on and I'm Dory!

We are excited! :yay:

I like how you think! I have also been playing around with the idea od wearing the dress at MNSSHP and goind as a fairy. All I would need to do is add wings.

I know I posted a bunch of previous ones, but here are some from the mot recent of trip! We did:

Tinkerbell & Wendy (and a guest star as Ariel!)

And dressed up as Alice & Esmerelda for the evening of the 24 hour event:

Pocahontas & Flit (the hummingbird)

Darth Vader & Han Solo

Blue Dress Belle & Ballgown Belle (both had hairbows too)

Captain Hook & Mr Smee (I had the white scarf on for a bit too, but it got way too hot lol)

We've got a bunch for the trip in August, including some repeats, and some fun ones planned for Sept! Disneybounding is always a fun time!! As for costumes, MNSSHP is going to be GREAT this year!
