I've been going to physical therapy for a week now, which means 3 times. I have another week of going until we go to Ireland. It's for my knee that was injured in the car accident. Anyway, i've been having a procedure similar to a cortazone shot at every therapy appt. It is cortazone put into a pad on a bandage thing and stuck onto the most painful part of the knee and another sticky bandage stuck on next to it and 2 cords that are attatched like jumper cables into the electronic piece and turned on. It isn't the most comfortable part, it's like a stinging and goes for 20 minutes but I tell you what, it's been working wonders on my knee!

Anyone have this done before and did it help you? The therapist told me doctors rave about this treatment and some offer it in their offices. And some don't want you sitting in their office for the treatment so there are ones made that have a disposable battery pack attatched to it but it takes 5 or 6 hours to dispense because the battery isn't very high charged. But I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these? Do they still have to be administered in the doctor office and then worn home? The reason I ask is that I have the orthopedic appt on Tuesday and wonder if just maybe this is something they can send me to Ireland with to reduce swelling and all.

And info would be greatly appreciated.

Most physical therapists deliver cortisone via iontophorisis, as you have described. When done in a PT office, it is delivered quicker than what you describe however.

What you're having sounds different with cortizone, but I'm also going through PT currently for a knee problem and am getting electrical muscle stimulation that sounds similar in setup. This doesn't involve cortizone, but there are also two pads placed on knee with gel and the two pads are connected to cords connected to a machine and runs about 20 mins. It feels sort of like a constant cat scratching I guesss, sort of ticklish but sort of not. This also makes my knee feel great, I was amazed after having the treatment for the first time. Good luck with yours!

DWDreams, I had something like that one on my back when I went for my bulging discs. Yes, this one I have is with the cortizone that pumps it into my knee... it's been working great!
