Tell me the good and bad! - Rooms, transportation, amenities, size, etc. Any and all opinions appreciated!!!

My review.. Family of four stayed there about year ago

Good: Nice theme to it and great pool. Buses were good and staff as nice. Food court, if you like southwestern flair, was good

Bad: Convention resort. So lots of folks in business suits and "hello my name" nametags.

We had a horrible issue with being at the pool after about 4pm. All these convention guys flocked to the pool and did nothing but hit on, or ooggle the women that were there in their bathing suits. My wife had two guys hop in the lounge chairs next to her and I literally had to get loud with one to get them out of there. so many drunk, lonely business guys it was horrible.

We would NEVER go back there. honestly, ignore what people say about it being pretty and such. Do you want to feel like you are staying at a bad singles bar?

We did POR this spring and is was so wonderful and disney like..

Avoid CSR like the plague

Wow - bad business men and thier poor wives at home. Shame on them.
Someone should have contacted management. There is always someone in charge of the convention group.

CSR is a lovely resort.
Nice 1.4 mile walk around the lake.
Great pool for families with a 123' slide.
Casita's are where the convention people stay.
Cabana's are nice and relaxing rooms.
Buses come every 15 mins or less.
Lots of selections in the Pepper Market to eat.

For a moderate it's a nice place.

Take a look at:

The resort is absolutely beautiful! I found no negatives to speak of...we just like the theming at CBR at tad bit better =)

Stayed there Nov-Dec 2006. Beautiful resort. Quiet, relaxing. There were conventions while were there, but we had no problems. We were in Casitas 1(where I think many of the convention participants were staying)-no issues with noise or bad behavior. I'm sure it depends on what convention is going on.:confused3 I was happy to see convention people-that meant more seats on the bus for us.:thumbsup2 The bus service, by the way, was excellent.

The pools were great and there's an awesome slide!

We enjoyed the Pepper Market. We were on DDP so the 10% charge didn't impact us. There was a wide variety of choices and everything was delicious.

We're going to CSR again this year.

We had NO problems with CSR and would stay there again. With that being said there were some things about CSR that we did not prefer. One being that we were located on one of the higher floors which meant from the parking lot we had to walk all the way to the lagoon to catch an elevator then walk a maze on that floor to get back to our room. Not too bad, but not convenient at all. Then the busses that only service CSR were running so far behind to a specific park that one familly was ready to go ballistic because they had reservations for a breakfast party and was about to miss out. We on the other hand did not have those prior reservations , but decided to drive ourselves everywhere after that experience.

We have stayed there four times (our fifth one coming up a week from Friday). A lovely resort, nice walking paths, beautiful big pool and "quiet" pools, vareity in food. And we have never once had any problems with convention people. As a matter of fact, we often saw them giving up their loung chairs to families.:)

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, Mayl. Honestly, my family has stayed there three times, and we've never seen anyone in business attire or nametags. :confused3 I truly think your experience was on the rare side - not at all what the typical guest at CSR experiences.

As for me, I love CSR as does my family. For us, it truly is a gorgeous resort, especially in the casita area. The fountains and lights are just plain magical at night! :cloud9: We have yet to use the main pool as we generally prefer to hang out by a quiet pool, but it is a REALLY COOL pool. We walk by it a lot, and I'm always fascinated by the pyramid. The quiet pools live up to their name and have always been quiet while we've been there. As for food, we eat at the Pepper Market a lot during our stays, and we have always thought the food was great! There's such a nice selection there. Truly something for everyone. :thumbsup2

For us, the only moderates are CSR and CBR (we just love the tropical landscaping), and we always have a lot of trouble deciding between the two.

Mayl's back singing the same old song. :rotfl: Googlers at the pool. Beware!

CSR has the best transportation, best mod pool and slide and the best food options (especially if you are on the DDP). Check out my CSR website below for pics and info. CSR is one of 7 convention resorts at WDW. GF, BW, Y&BC, CR and the Swan & Dolphin.

There's nothing wrong with being a resort "expert", but I hope it's ok for regular posters to voice their experiences and opinions, also.

Sure it's okay to post whatever you like but when 89 of 91 post say the same thing, I know a troll when I see one. Been here since 1999, I can figure it out on my own.

Buzz, I absolutely love your pics. Your CSR thread and dedication site played a big role in my upgrading to CSR as opposed to staying at POR a second time.

By the way, where can I find high resolution versions of those stunning pictures? I have combed the photobuckets and flickrs of the world but I haven't found anything like those. Nice work.:thumbsup2

I am looking forward to my stay. Now, I just can't decide which section or building to request.

We really liked our stay at CSR in 2002 and hope to stay there again in the future. There were many pros, and only a few cons, in our opinion.

PROS:
*Beautiful resort theming!!
*Landscaping was gorgeous
*More "Deluxe" amenities than any other Moderates
*Main pool is huge and great theming
*play area is really imaginative and fun
*food at food court very tasty
*Maya Grill restaurant is very good, and almost always accepts walk-ins
*rooms are very nice
*boat and bike rentals, nice lagoon and walking trails

CONS:
*HUGE size of resort makes getting to your room at the end of a long day at the parks tiring (we stayed there before they started the internal shuttle, though, so it might be easier to get to and from the pool, food court, etc, now)
*they add an automatic 10% gratuity to the bill at the food court, and we didn't feel the service was there to warrant it
*the size of the food court can be inadequate for the size of the resort- it was insanely PACKED many times we tried to eat there

Even with the cons, we felt the pros far outweighed them. We would definitely stay at CSR again.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. To me, the free flow of opinions and experiences is always preferred to name calling.

I can't take all the credit. Many of the photos on my website are from another DIS'er with a great photo talent. All the photos with DCG after them belong to Don. He has just allowed me to use them on my site. Others have come from searching Google and taken myself over the years.

We stayed there last December. There were no conventions the week we were there. It is very large and spread out which makes it nice because you don't feel crowded but can be a drawback when it comes to walking. It wasn't a horrible thing...but you do walk quite a bit. The grounds are beautiful, rooms are nice, people are very friendly and we loved the bus service since you didn't have any other resorts to stop at. We thought the food was good and the choices of food were very good. We would not hesitate to stay there again!

I have nothing to hide, gain or whatever by people posting good or bad regarding CSR. People are intelligent enough to see what I see. It's free for all to post on the DIS as far as I know and posting goes both ways for all resorts.

Here are 130 of the last trip reports to CSR, good and bad.

It can be easily resolved by a mod that can check IP addresses to see if there are alter egos at work. It wouldn't be the first time and it won't be the last.

Buzz the information you provide is wonderful. I know that I got lots of valuable information from it. Thank you! I do agree that most people on these boards are intellegent enough to read the posts and be able to decide for themselves.

I am looking forward to my stay. Now, I just can't decide which section or building to request.
Here are some good building choices.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. (Most convenient location and most preferred)

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool (and is the old smoking optional building).

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.
