Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- October 2010

On our last 3 trips to Disney have only ever stayed at Wilderness Lodge, this will be our first visit to a Moderate and CSR. We visited here the last trip and found it beautiful and decided we had to stay here next trip. We are going w/ our children and my friends and their kids in July. We are super excited!!

Question: We like the Rancho's section best we think. We would like to be close to a bus stop and the Main Dig Site pool. We aren't real worried about being close to the food court (we can fill our mugs at the Pool Bar right???) Which section of Rancho's do I request to be closest to the bus stop and pool?

Ranchos 7B is between the bus stop and the is probably closest to the main pool.

Thanks for the info. Also can you rent a car from this resort, we'd like to be able to get there, hopefully get a microwave, then rent a car and run to Wally world or somewhere reasonably priced for pop and such. Is Wally world very far from Coronado springs?:surfweb:

There is an Alamo car rental area at the AAA Car Care Center near the Ticket and Transportation Center. Their phone number is (407)824-3470. I'm not sure if you would have to take a taxi to get there or if there is transportation to it.

So excited! Just booked for March 4-9! Got a great rate, too. I was hoping to get in to POFQ, but CSR was my second choice.

Was there a full bathtub or just the shower? That is a very interesting room!

Full bathtub. Wow, I had no idea I had such an interesting room! I knew the second I walked in that it was different because of the lack of sliding doors separating the vanity area, but I didn't think it was this rare haha. Here's a picture of the bathtub...

I was wondering if anyone on here knew what time Maya Grill opened?
We are looking at doing a late lunch the day of the Halloween party then just snack while at the party. I hope they aren't just open for dinner!
Thanks!

They are, unfortunately, open for breakfast and dinner.

Kat, I hope all went well with your brother today.:thumbsup2

Thank you.

He was in surgery for over three hours, but all went well. He has a long recovery ahead of him, but the surgery worked and I can relax again. I also got the great news that my mammogram was clear. So I can now say that I have been cancer free for four years. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Ok, all you CSR posters----you did it!! You roped me in and I changed my reservations today from Beach Club to Coronado Springs! :cheer2: We'll stay at BC CL on our last Disney night, after we've spent 4 nights at CSR. I have read just about everything I can put my hands on about CSR and can't wait to get there and experience it all firsthand. Thank you all for your information and your pictures!

:welcome::welcome: Glad to have you here with us. My DH and I hope to stay at the BC on a future trip (we're trying AKL in a split stay with CSR this year); you'll have to let us know what you think of it.

We hope you enjoy CSR half as much as we do, because then I know you will have had a great trip.

Thank you.

Congratulations to both you and your brother!

My next two trips are at POFQ (due to their new rehab), but I'm already missing CSR and for some reason keep checking this thread almost every day.:rotfl: Oh well, I'll be back at CSR in Dec (if I don't change my mind for either my early May or late Sept trips).:rotfl:

Awesome news!!! :cool1:

Does anyone know what is going on at the Coronado Springs, the last week of November into December 2011? Tried to book and there are no rooms available.

Congratulations Kat! It is so good to hear you are 4 years cancer free!!!!!

We just got back from CSR and really enjoyed it overall.

The grounds of the hotel were gorgeous. The pool was really neat, we loved the lake, and the main building was really beautiful. We had pretty good luck with buses too, and loved that they dropped off at the satellite stops before heading back to the main building. The lines for the buses at the parks give you a real idea just how huge the resort is! Usually there would be a full busload waiting for CSR when the bus finally got there, and like 5-10 people at most other places.

The rooms we found to be just okay. Very clean, very well kept, and the new furniture was nice quality. To me though, they really just seemed to lack personality compared to a lot of other Disney hotels. I suppose I might be spoiled by the deluxe hotels I've stayed at (my dad can afford them. Me, not so much :P) but I don't remember feeling this way when I stayed at POR 5 years ago. The only real color in the CSR room was on the curtains, the rest of the room felt kind of stark with just the dark furniture and white walls and bedding. I guess I can see the color scheme they're going for (dark brown, white, blue, silver is actually something I like a lot), but I felt like it needed a painting somewhere, or something else to jazz it up a bit. Though, we had a king bed room, and I do admit it looks better in the pictures with the two queen beds, because it helps the wall with the beds on it to look less empty.

Also - what the heck is with the bedspreads being like 8 inches too short on the sides :P ? I saw other people on here mention that the queen bedspreads were too short and they thought they were using full sized bedspreads, but we had a king bed and ours was the same way! Not that it detracted from our trip at all, lol, I was just tickled that Disney somehow bought hundreds of new bedspreads, and ALL of them are too small :P

The rooms we found to be just

Yeah, that's what you get at the moderate resorts. The grounds and facilty match the deluxe resorts, but the rooms are "ok". I fine with this, no one goes to Disney to sit in their room. Usually when I see someone complaining about a moderate resort, it's someone who was expecting it to be a 5 star room.

I really enjoy both CSR and CBR, but its not the room you are paying for its the resort itself.
