Please can anyone tell me if it is free to make local calls from your room? I'm thinking for things like calling Mears etc. I will be taking my mobile phone, however prefer not to use it if possible as it is a UK phone and would still charge me a fortune!:scared1:

We ate at the Pepper Market today for lunch. I noticed some changes since the last time we ate there in early December. All the food except the condiments at the area that has quesadillas, soft tacos, etc was now self-service. Other than that every thing was the same. We had another great experience there!

The new flooring in the lobby is very pretty.

I took a couple pics, will post them once I upload them.

Are they still doing the buffet for breakfast and lunch? If so,how is it?

Yes, they are still doing the buffet at breakfast and lunch, and ala carte for dinner.

Never ate breakfast at the buffet. We ate at the lunch buffet 4 times. 3 times were excellent and one time some of the food was a bit dried out from sitting out. While we have no plans for breakfast there, we will be heading back again for lunch.

We're at CSR right now - also had lunch at the Pepper Market. I really like the buffet setup (especially on the dining plan - one QS credit for a buffet of this quality is a great deal),

We did breakfast, lunch and dinner there this past week. All were good. Lunch buffet was much better than breakfast however. The waiter told us that they are working on making dinner buffet style too. When were were there, there was someone at most stations keeping the food made fresh and serving it to you. We were very pleased with the restaurant and the entire resort!

For those who are staying there right now--can you tell me if construction is going on, are all the pools/hot tub open, are there certain areas of the resort that are closed due to refurb? How are the buses?

Thanks.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Unfortunately, I am not there right now. :sad1: But Mouseplanet is reporting the following construction at CSR:

Coronado Springs Resort – Casitas 1 plaza fountain wall and coping repairs takes place January 10 to February 7.
Coronado Springs Resort – Ranchos buildings experiences tile roof repair and replacement from January 9 to July 27.

Is there anyone in the Ranchos now who can confirm that the roof work started today?

I didn't know the answer to this, so I checked All Ears. I'm not sure how up to date it is, but All Ears reports that local calls are 75 cents each.

I'm wondering what the buses are like. This will help us decide if we want to request a certain section. I don't want to end up at a room by the 3rd of 4th stop if the buses are going to get crowded or full by then. We are planning to go either the first or second week of May in 2013 for my 23rd birthday, which is on the 2nd as well as celebrating being together for almost 4 years. I enjoyed this time of year because the crowds weren't terrible and the parks were very manageable and would love to go again during that time of year.

Also, are all sections pretty quiet or should we avoid ones that are near the main pool? I want this to be a romantic vacation for us and CSR definitely looks super romantic. :lovestruc Is the main pool the only pool that has a hot tub? That is a requirement for DBF.

Thanks for the help! :)

Are cabs readily available at CSR? I need to attend meetings at Marriott World Center for work for four of the days we will be there. I am hoping to avoid renting a car.

If cabs are available, any idea what the cost from CSR to Marriott World Center might be?
Yes, they are readily available. If there isn't one waiting outside (there always was when I was there), bell services will happily call one for you.

I can't answer your second question, since I have no idea where the Marriott World Center is!

Buses are great. First week in May should be less crowded than the second, but even the second I doubt you'll have problems with crowded buses. Just note that Bus Stop #4 is actually the 3rd stop going to the parks - buses to the parks go in this order: #2 Casitas, #3 Ranchos, #4 Cabanas, #1 El Centro.

Cabanas seems to be the most requested section, so I doubt that buses are full by then, or they wouldn't be that popular!

All sections are pretty quiet. And yes, the main pool is the only one at CSR with a hot tub.

Thanks for sharing the buffet info. I'm glad it's still in place and I hope it stays. We'll be there for the first time May 29 and I look forward to trying it.
Seems like a great deal to me!!! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much! I didn't know that it didn't go in order from 1-4. Thanks for the tip! :) I am so glad to hear that the buses are great! We aren't picky about where we stay so we probably won't request anything, but the Casistas look super pretty so I may request that. :lovestruc We don't mind walking so if we are far away from everything, that is definitely not a problem. Though out of curiosity. How far of a walk is it form Casistas to the Dig Site?

I sincerely appreciate the help!

Thats ok, I'm sure it wont be too much different and certainly cheaper than the nearly $3 a min from my phone, thankyou for checking :)

We were cutting back on our trips this year, but, just found out we have an extra trip because DH is going to a convention at CSR. We will be there from Feb 14-19 :cool1:

We stayed at CSR in 2009 for 2 nights and stayed in the cabanas, loved the location, however, I remember reading that guests that are there for conventions are placed mainly in the casitas. Is this correct? I looked for this info and cannot find it now..if this the way the do it for conventions, should I request cabana 9a anyway?

Thanks!! :goodvibes

First, I want to express a big THANK YOU for this thread! Great information! Second, I'm soooo excited to be staying at CSR for this trip and can't wait to arrive!!!! ....I can see it has the potential to be our #1 choice!

Only 2 adults traveling, and we want this trip to be about relaxing at the hotel and enjoying the quiet pools just as much as being about the parks. Based on what I've read through the years, CSR was our first choice! Since we want as much tranquility as possible, we asked to be in the Ranchos section. We don't mind the distance/size concerns I've read about. Now, I'm reading there will be roof replacement in the ranchos section during our stay, and I'm growing a little anxious about our choice - to stay in ranchos not about choosing CSR....

Anyone experienced with staying near construction work like this? ...do they put people in the rooms/building where this will be taking place? ...if it's too much noise, I'm thinking we could ask to be moved - but everyone else will likely have the same idea.... Any tips or thoughts?

Not a show stopper, but I'm a little bummed about the buffet changes at PM - we love having breakfast at our hotel's cafe court. The buffet isn't a good fit for us - cost and too much food. ...I'll miss starting my day with a mickey waffle!!!!

Thanks to everyone for making this thread so informative!

Anywhere you stay at CSR will be tranquil. Unless you have loud neighbors! The only noise we heard was someone else's shower while we were in the bathroom. That happened about once since we were usually getting ready much later than what is considered "normal" for WDW.

bldgs 1, 2 and 3 are preferred. but4 and 5 are not... they are equat distance between the main pool and el centro (well, maybe the maya pool is a little further walk...

if you stay in casitas or not, make SURE the walk THROUGH the casitas area.. NOT only along the promenade... when you leave El centro.. turn left INOT the area as soom as you can.. you will wlk along fountains, reflecting pools, a rotunda, etc.. VERY pretty and romantic at night.
we were in bldg 5 the first time we were there, and just dutifully walked along the promenade (along the lagoon....

one night hubby said "I wonder where THIS path goes???" (at Disney, ALWAY WONDER where this path goes) and we were so happy to discover this hidden area.

our 2nd trip we were in cabanas which is the most convenient.. but lacking in theming. our 3rd stay there, swe lucked out and were in casitas 3 3rd floor laggon view!!!! (now it is preferred:sad2:) well even if you are not in those bldgs. buidgs 1-3 are connnected.. go up to the 3rh floor and walk around a bit, explore. you cross cat walks, look down on the fountains and reflecting pool and find yourself in the midst of the rotunda!!! (we like to explore)

have fun!!!

Thanks for the tips! :goodvibes I love the sound of walking through the Casistas. I watched AllEars.net's video tour of CSR and the Casistas area looks extremely pretty and romantic. I really hope we stay in Casistas 4 or 5. I see you're a fellow Chicagoan! Hello neighbor!
