Coronado Springs or Saratoga Springs

Looking at possibly staying at Coronado Springs or Saratoga in April (April 25-28 to be exact). Both have some of the discounted rooms available through the sun and fun discount offer. Coronado is 309 a night and Saratoga is 340 a night. It will just be my wife and I (30 somethings) headed down for our first Disney trip together. Unfortunately we do not have a massive budget so the 300-350 a night is probably the max we can do for just rooms. Would one be better than the other? Our highlight will be the Galaxy Edge, so is one much more convenient than the other? Thanks for any suggestions or information.

Coronado and if it's in the budget, the Tower is brand new and tremendous. CRS is very close to HS.
If the tower isn't in the budget the rooms around the lake have been recently remodeled as well.
It's a beautiful resort.

I have been to both resorts. Coronado before the tower was built. I like both of them. I don't think you could go wrong with either. I don't think one would be more convenient then the other to get to HS. I would go for the cheaper one to save some money. If you were to be spending time at DS then Saratoga might be the better route since it is right across the lake.

$309 for Coronado?!

Is that a Jr Suite or something?

Personally, I'd move offsite if those were my two options at those price points.

We are wanting to stay on site, but not in a value resort if possible. It was the best price point I could find for that time frame and still get at least a queen or king bed instead of doubles. I think it was for a deluxe in the tower if I remember correctly. If you have other suggestions, please let me know.

I've stayed at both. I'm assuming that SSR would be a studio, correct? Honestly, I would go with with CSR - it's my favorite of the moderates, but I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I just looked up your day and the only thing available (mod or deluxe, 2 people, queen or king, summer sun and fun discount) at the cheapest price is Saratoga and $341. CSR is now $600 a night. They only had club level and deluxe.

I already had the CSR reserved and was looking into the possibility of changing if it made sense. Now, I am looking into a possible change of dates because I have found similar rooms for significantly less, but it will depend on if my wife can get off work.

That is good. Port Orleans Riverside is a very nice resort if you can get a room there. We stayed at the Mansions side of the resort and really liked it. We were going to book here again this year but we are are going with my parents and for $200 more for each of us we can share a 2 bedroom at Saratoga. This gave a full kitchen since we won't have the dining plan this time. This was worth the upgrade.

POR is actually available on the second possible set of days. I can do a CSR Tower for 245, a Tower water view for 325, or a preferred King room for 274. In the alternative I can do POR standard view for 253, a king for 277 or a Royal Guest Room Garden for 308. I am just waiting to see if my wife can be off. These would be 5/14-5/17

If budget is an issue there are no bad views at CRS GDT. The standard Tower sounds like a deal at $245.00. Keep in mind the Tower will have interior hallways (which we prefer) if that's is important to you where POR will have exterior entryways to those rooms.

Have you thought about doing a DVC rental?
I'm currently booking my November/December trip with my girlfriend (same age category as you), and we're looking at $250/night for Animal Kingdom Kidani Savannah View and around $180/night for Old Key West (comparable to SSR).

Just wanted to throw that idea in there ;-)

If the aversion to full beds is the source of your reluctance to stay value, please know that all the rooms at Pop and ASMovies have been renovated and have no more double beds. Additionally, Pop is on the skyliner for easy access to HS. I’m not sure of the availability during your dates, but those might be something to consider.

Standard Tower. We've stayed in POR and CSR Tower this year and definitely prefer the Tower room.

Are you looking only At Disney’s own website or are you willing to branch out? There are authorized third party sellers who have a separate inventory and may have different availability and better prices. I did a quick search at Undercover Tourist, and there are CBR rooms in the mid-$200s for your original dates (moderate with queen beds on skyliner route). There are multiple affordable options during your May dates, including the Swan, which, while technically not a Disney hotel, is right on the boardwalk so you can easily boat or even walk to HS.

On the discount codes and rates board, there is a thread for Priceline and Hotwire. Lots of people have found great deals that way.

If it was me I would go with the cheapest because that would give me more money to do something extra. Here is the website that someone has put up and there is a thread here on the Dis that this guys keeps up with. https://www.portorleans.org/ Out of all the resorts that we have stayed at I have gotten the most info from this one and was very prepared for what the has to offer, the layout, the best way to request rooms and so on.

I have never stayed in the Tower at CSR so I can't offer to much there. I did stay there before the tower was added and it is a nice resort but seemed to be long walks to the main building and pool. The pool was great and I loved the room. Having wood doors that separate the bathroom/sink area from the rest of the room instead of a curtain was the best.

My biggest dear is the inability to cancel the reservation (at least that is my understanding). I have a sick parent and if anything were to happen, I don't want to be stuck. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Thank you all for your help. I honestly did not realize until late yesterday that UT even had hotel options. I will happily check them out for our possible dates. Should know today which one works best with my wife's schedule. I do appreciate all the info on the value as well as the other options and opinions. Looking forward to a short but fun couples trip so that in a couple years when we take our little one we can focus solely on him.

In that case some rental brokers offer an option to cancel your plans for around $2 per rented point (e. g. DVC Rental Store), but you can also just get a 3rd party travel insurance. At least in Germany we can do that so I'll just assume that's also a thing in the States.
