We're going moderate this time and think we might sneak in a trip in the fall or over Christmas - I've stayed Caribbean Beach before so I want to try something new, but we can't decide between these two!

Which one have you stayed at? Would you return? We're two adults, we usually drive ourselves to the parks and rarely use a foodcourt though do eat table service or a lounge if available. Looking for a quiet, romantic, and beautiful resort that has other activities, like boating, available (we loved the searaycers at WL!). We'll be paying for the king room as well.

Thanks!

Coronado is great. So far it is my favorite hotel and favorite moderate. Haven't been to the deluxes yet or FQ yet (FQ is in October). You can rent the little mouseboats on the lake, its nice and peaceful there.

I wouldn't hesistate to stay there again.

FQ does not have a sit down restaurant, you have to go to Riverside. Coronado has a sit down food court and a sit down restaurant. I think both look very romantic but it all depends on you. FQ is smaller, quainter, horse carriage rides at night, boat to DTD, piano bar with entertainment. Coronado is bigger, has lots of walkways, bridges, 3 quiet pools to escape to, hammocks - walk around the lake at night, drink margaritas at the pool bar etc...

I think you will find there are more families at Fq than CSR. Coronado is a convention hotel so it is a bit more adult oriented.

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts
Centrally located with short rides to the parks
Largest hot tub on WDW property
Awesome main pool area with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool
3 quiet pools
New shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
High speed internet service
WiFi available too
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades
beautifully landscaped
central air, not a noisey wall unit

THE CONS
Full size beds (kings size beds are available)
one sink

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

We've stayed at both, and I would consider POFQ just a little more romantic. The carriage ride at POR is a must, and takes you around both resorts. The restaurants, pools and activities at POR are also available to those at POFQ, and within easy walking distance. The boat to DTD is another plus. It all depends on your preferences. Southwest versus New Orleans/Southern themes. Both resorts are beautiful. But that's JMHO. pirate:

This wasn't an option you had asked about, but I would consider POR instead of POFQ. There are 5 quiet pools at POR. There are no quiet pools at POFQ, unless you walk over to POR. If shade is important to you, than Port Orleans is the place. If you want lots of sunshine, then CSR is the place. Since you will have a car, you're better off driving to all parks except MK.

Coronado is a must for my family. We've tried all the moderates but keep coming back to CSR. Romance -- nothing beats a stroll around the lake in the evening. It is absolutely gorgeous and, even during the busiest times it never seems crowded. The lighting and fountains make for a romantic evening. The restaurant is also romantic and usually not crowded with families while the market place offers a wide variety of foods. They do have boats to rent but you can only go in the CSR lake. The pool is huge as is the hot tub and the pool bar is very nice. Overall, we much prefer CSR.

POFQ is my favorite Disney resort. We tried POR, BC, and AKL and always go back to POFQ. It has so much going for it plus you can use the facilities at POR too.
