Okay so I started by looking at renting DVC points and is it worth about an extra $600 to stay in a boardwalk Villa over Coronado springs or Carribean? If I don't rent points and just book through Disney which would you choose... Coronado or Caribbean? We are a family of 4 with 2 girls 2 yrs and 7 yes!

Are you aware of the current construction at CBR and CSR? I would definitely avoid CBR until it is complete.
Renting DVC Points is a contractual commitment. You can not cancel for a refund or change dates. You do not get daily Mousekeeping or towels, toiletries replenished. It is a timeshare, not a hotel. If you are serious about renting points be sure you do your research. Check out the DVC boards for good information

I agree with PP, the construction at the CBR and CSR puts these 2 at the bottom of the list IMO. I'd read the FAQs on the DVC page on this site just to make sure this is the way you want to go.

How many nights are you planning on staying? Are you looking at a studio or 1-bedroom? If you aren't going to rent points, I would actually look at POR or POFQ due to the construction at CBR and CSR.

We've were looking at a studio with a boardwalk view if we rent. I would purchase the point protection as well! We are staying 7 nights. Is there construction still that much of a nuisance!; I knew there was construction just didn't know how much of a disruption it would cause! We're stated POR before and liked it but we're thinking about trying something new but we did like it so maybe that could be another good option!

The first thing I would do is check to see if you can actually rent the points, it's not a given so that might make the decision for you. If you can get the points, if your budget allows it, I'd rent as long as you are comfortable with the limitations. If the question is moot because you can't get the points, between CBR and CSR I'd go with CSR right now. Normally, with the moderate resorts we just stay at the one that is less since I find something positive with all of them but the construction at CBR is very intrusive right now. I think the construction at CSR isn't that bad. Personally, I wouldn't be bothered with either construction situation but we are two adults and don't eat at the food courts so it really wouldn't bother us that much.

You're staying 7 nights? So we're talking less than $100 per night to upgrade to BWV. I'd do it just because of the construction at the other two resorts. However, you may not be able to rent a BWV boardwalk view studio. There are only 29 in all of the resort. Depending on when you're traveling, there may not be any available even if points are available to rent a reservation.

If the choice is narrowed down to just CBR vs. CSR, I would choose CSR. The construction at CBR is fairly extensive. There's not real food court (just a tent and food truck) and the "gift store" is a couple of hotel rooms that have been put into use as a store.
