In the May, 2006, issue of Budget Travel magazine, there is an article by a young lady who worked as a "sweeper" at Cedar Point. Among the more unusual items she found while sweeping the park was an unopened can of corn. Evidently she was surprised. (But we wouldn't have been, would we.)

I read that article the other day and immediately thought of 'the corn people'. The apparently get around. :teeth:

Wow, that's too funny! Really brings back memories.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

When I was 17 I worked as a "sweeper" at Busch Gardens the Old Country in Williamsburg. I have to say I also found some pretty nutty things.

The weirdest thing I found was a prosthetic arm. I'm not kidding you! It was claimed at guest relations. The arm belonged to a lady who took it off because it was irritating her 9from the heat and humidity and put it in her son's stroller. Unbeknowst to her it fell out.

I've also found underwear and socks (I worked in an area with a water ride).

I found my fair share of wallets and belt bags with money, credit cards etc.

My coworker found a toupee in the employee walkways that are behind the rides. I quess someone "lost" it on a ride.

What are "corn people?"

There was a thread years ago about strange or funny things people had seen at WDW. Someone posted about a family in the Magic Kingdom sitting on the steps of City Hall eating canned corn. The story took on a life of its own from there. There was even a DIS Meet where everyone met at City Hall and took pictures holding up their cans of corn. I couldn't get Search to work, so hopefully someone can find the pictures! :thumbsup2

Hey at least we didnt make them out to be Children of the Corn  :faint:

I used to have a corn symbol in my signature. CORN :rotfl2:
Now we just need to revive the EMU legs threads.

The Corn People will never die. :rotfl2:

Now, what I always wonder is, do the Corn People have any idea how famous they are? :teeth:

I still have a Pooh sitting by my computer. He's dressed up like an ear of corn. :rotfl: So I think of this story often.

man this makes me feel old. I think the corn thread was originally years ago and was the work of Charlie

Long live the corn people!!! :teeth:

That corn thing is funny...I'm relatively new to the DIS and hadn't heard of it. When my son was born 8 years ago, he was born on Oscar night. It was the night "Good Will Hunting" won for screenplay & Robin Williams won for his acting in that movie. It was big news around here (Boston). In his acceptance speech, he thanked the people of South Boston (where the film was set) and said "You're a can of corn!" No one really knew what it meant; the papers said it meant that the people were "real, and down to earth". Anyway, since I was in labor with my son during all that, his nickname for a while was "can o' corn"!!!!!!!!!!
