Tried my first corn dog tonight, and I gotta say, I don't see what the fuss is all about. The top half of mine was burnt and there was just WAY too much batter. I think that will be my last one.

I am not a corn dog fan myself. Never have been, never will be. I always think the DLR corn dogs are overcooked. I don't see what the fuss is, either. :confused3

However - some of the boys in my family LOVE the hot link corn dog in DCA and really missed them when they were gone. :3dglasses

I had one at Stage Door Cafe (which apparently is supposed to be the same thing as the Red Wagon), and it was greasy as heck. I mean when I bit into it, I could just feel my mouth fill with grease. The taste wasn't bad, but the greasiness really turned me off. Don't know if I got a bad one or if that's really what the infamous DL corn dog is supposed to be like. I've been meaning to try one from the wagon just to see if I have a different experience, but haven't had the chance yet.

I absolutely LOVE their corn dogs... sure... it's like a coronary waiting to happen but it is SO GOOD! Other Corn Dogs elsewhere can't even compare!

Anyone have a recipe for something similar?

Oh no. Sorry you didn't enjoy your corn dog.

Like everything else in life, we all have our opinions. What is fantastic to one person, is dreadful to the next. There are people on here who love Turkey legs and I think they are disgusting! Blech! To each his own.

I am a LOVER of the corn dogs in DLR and it is always one of my first meals in the park.

I'm sure you will find many things in you love to eat at DLR, just mark the corn dogs off your list. :rolleyes1

Hope you are having a magical trip!:wizard:

Okay, as the girl who thinks Dole Whips are overrated and flat out hates the Aladdin show, I support you in your minority view. :rotfl2:

As to the corn dogs, I like the ones at DCA- specifically the hot link ones. I'm not sure I've ever tried the corn dog wagon ones, so I don't know if there's a significant difference in the regular ones.

If you like hot links I'd recommend giving the Corn Dog Castle at DCA a shot. If not, there are plenty of amazing indulgences at DL to choose from. :)

Mama Who - you are brave to admit to not liking Dole Whip's and Aladdin! :goodvibes I love both those things.

But, I have one more admission....I don't like the Plaza Inn chicken....blasphemy, I know!

I can beat that. Aside from hating the Dole Whip, I seem to be the only one on these boards that hates the pommes frites at Cafe Orleans. I could only taste the cheese on it and since it was dried and not fresh, it just made the potatoes taste stale. I couldn't taste the garlic at all either, although I may be a bit spoiled by Gilroy garlic fries around here. My boyfriend and I had to drown our fries in the remoulade to make them bearable.

Please don't hate me, everyone!

On that note, I love the corn dogs and am looking forward to trying the hot link corn dog on our next visit! As other posters have said, to each his/her own. There are so many great things to eat at DLR, so we all can find something to enjoy! :goodvibes

SilentFeline (love your name...my felines are anything but silent!),

Somehow this has become a confession board.

We just love each other regardless of our differences here at DIS!

Confession time: I was disappointed in MK in WDW!!! I love my Disneyland and it just didn't come close to measuring up.

I've never tried the corn dogs but plan to on our next trip because I normally love them! lol

I can't say I HATE this next thing but I certainly don't see what is so amazing about it compared to the original/normal one........HMH.

I was disappointed when I saw it for the first time last year, plus it doesn't help that I hated NBC. I haven't seen the original one in a gazillion years and won't this time either. It appears I will be stuck with HMH forever if we continue to take fall/winter trips. :rotfl:

Love corn dogs. Actually they are the first "must do" after our 4 hour flight lol. Confess though that I just don't get Monte Cristos, a deep fried battered cheese and ham sandwich, sprinkled with sugar - yuk

I love corn dogs too, but didn't try the Monte Cristo for the same reason as you - I just don't get the idea behind a deep fried sandwich! Maybe this one is an Australian thing? :confused3

What is a Hot Links Corn Dog? :goodvibes

We got ours in DCA, so maybe they are better made there? Not greasy at all, made fresh for us so hot and crispy, they were DELICIOUS. We got hot links for DH and me (think slightly spicy sausage inside the corn dog, but same deep-fried breading) and the deep-fried cheese sticks (same breading!) for DD2 and DD5.

I loved my hot link corn dog. DD2 loved the breading on her deep-fried cheesestick but left the cheese for me to eat. DD5 didn't care for it much at all. I would order it again on our next visit but they are HUGE. Next time, I will just share some of my corn dog's breading with DD2 and get DD5 something else.

Check out the photo DH took of DD2 eating her deep-fried cheesestick (I already took a few chomps off the top to get to the cheese so it was a few inches longer before this photo was taken!):

The hot links corn dog sounds delicious.

That photo of your DD is really cute! :goodvibes

My confession is that I feel a blinding jealousy anytime someone talks about the corn dogs or the Monte Cristos, because neither are gluten-free and I'll never get to have even a bite.

My other confession is that while I like having a taste of my daughter's Dole Whip, I much prefer just ordering a cool and refreshing cup of pineapple juice.

ok aren't corn dogs carnival/fair food??? :rotfl2:

Almost.

Actually they were invented at the LARGEST State Fair in the universe.

& I love the Corny Dogs at the Corn Dog Castle in DCA. The closest you'll find to Fletcher's original Corny Dogs.
