coranado springs

That really depends on the type of theming you prefer. The convention aspect of the resort, in my opinion, is a non issue. It's a great resort if you like the southwest/spanish theming.

if I am not part of a convention would I like coranado springs?????
I've stayed at CSR while there's convention going on. It didn't bother me. We were having a great time relaxing in our shorts and flip-flops, and they are in their suites... Too darn hot to be wearing them in the summer! Anyway.. don't let them bother you or feel awkward about them. If anything, I think they will feel awkward because they are in their suites in a fun resort, looking "stiff".. and I bet they want to "play". :)

We always travel as a family (not part of a convention), and we have been at CSR when there were conventions going on. As a PP said, conventions are usually a non-issue for leisure guests. You might see people walking around in polos and wearing nametags, and the lines for breakfast might be longer than usual, but conventions usually mean the buses and pools are empty during the day.

The one convention I caution people against if they are not participants is the Grainger show. It is generally held the last week of February into the first week of March, and they pretty much take over the whole resort. If you are not planning to go at that time, you probably won't notice much at all.

Here's another vote for staying at CSR without attending a convention there. If anything, the pools and busses are less crowded during the day. I really never noticed them being there. If you like the southwest theme and the Dig Site (which is the awesome pool area there), you'll like CSR!!

Does the theme appeal to you? If so, then you'll probably like it. Yes, some conventions are held there, however, it is first and foremost a Disney resort, where visitors (non-conventioner) and their families go to enjoy Disney.

First, be sure to check out the Unofficial CSR thread here on the DIS -- lots of information.

The CSR has been a favorite resort of ours for years; we've stayed nine times and I'm taking hubby back for a surprise 60th birthday trip in December.

We have stayed with our kids and without them; the convention aspect has never bothered us at all. There are other convention resorts at Disney -- Contemporary, Yacht Club, etc.; it's just every day people going for meetings while you are there to play.

I have stayed there 4 times and just love the place. Yes there are conventions going on but I have never really noticed as I don't go into the convention center. Actually I have noticed more convention people at the GF than I have CSR. IMO it's one of the best bangs for the buck on property, as you get the same tolietries as the deluxes, cozy down comforters and one of the best pools on property. Also the grounds are beautiful and the bus service has always been great. I am heading back in September with my friend for a girls food and wine trip.
