Ok, feel free to just move along, I just need to vent a little:eek:

Back in March during my very first visit to Disney we just had to go to Coral Reef. Well, we arrived for our ADR 15 minutes early and took a seat. Our reservation times rolls around, nothing. Another couple comes in with the same ADR time as ours (3:00), and takes a seat. we wait. in the mean time, 3 groups of 4+ people stroll in, and we can actually hear them tell the check in they DO NOT have ADR's. Not one of the groups. So we wait, assuming we will be seated right away. By this time it is 30 minutes past our reservation time, and the couple that came in after us goes to the desk, and I assume complained so they got seated. While we were sitting there, looking at the CM's in awe. Then ANOTHER large group comes in, this time with a ADR at 3:30 and are also seated right away. So finally, my fiance goes to the desk, and very nicely asks if we will be seated soon, and she says, "your pager will go off when we have a table" and turns away. So then, he explains that we have been waiting 45 mins, and 30 mins since our ADR time, and that a couple with the same ADR time as us who came in after us has already been seated. She told him it was because they didn't have a 2 person table ready for us and didn't want to give us a 4 person table. I get it. They want to keep those tables for groups of 4, but COME ON. That's excessive. It make me want to cry thinking about it. :sad1:

Thank you for your time, and good night.

I'm so sorry--it makes me see red when I read stuff like this. That's when I want to start throwing around the word "discrimination." Rather loudly. Now I'm venting:-)

Hope the rest of your trip went well.

That gets me so mad when they do this. And that's putting it nicely.

I KNOW! I love Disney and it just makes me sad :( Thanks for making me feel better :)

And the rest of my trip was fantastic! That was the only downer, and maybe why I thought the food sucked. hehe

We ate at CR on our last trip, and it was one of our longer waits. We were a party of six, and I know that the place was packed so it was fine. We will be returing this year, as it was one of our best meals, both food and service.:goodvibes

Well, it does make me feel better to know that other people are having good experiences there :thumbsup2

I get the frustration but they do say the ADR will get you the next available table for your party size :confused3

We also had the longest wait of our trip at Coral Reef. It was almost over an hour past our adr time.

I agree, we have seen this many times, it is one practive I really hate at WDW. Write to guest satisfaction about it.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Ususally the CM's are so accomodating! I don't buy the nonsense about the four table/two table thing either. If there are available tables and a reservation waiting, you give those people the table, PERIOD! Definitely call and complain. You never know what might come of it. The CM who denied you should definitely be re-taught in manners, and the old saying "the customer is always right". It's not like we all don't pay and arm and leg to go to this place religiously! Geesh! I'm glad you vented and got it out!

Yes, but the OP did say that a party the same size as her's, with the same ADR time as her, that checked in after her, was seated first. And 45 minutes is really a long time to wait.

Thanks everyone for being so nice :) I was afraid I might get yelled at

I'm glad some people understand :hippie:

No yelling here! :) I took CR off our ADR list about a year ago. Too many negative experiences with wait times, etc. We're at WDW to have fun and it's no fun sitting there waiting for your table 45-60 minutes after your ADR time. :headache:

That is terrible and should not have happened. We just returned last night and ate at Coral Reef (along with a dozen other places). We have to say that this place came in second to the top as our most favorite experience. We had a 2 minute wait to be seated (2 of us). And we were indeed seated at a 4-person table. We don't know if it was because we were on the delux ddp, but we had no wait anywhere we ate. 5 minutes would be the longest wait we had at 12 places. The service at CR was top notch and the food perfect. Only Narcossees was the only other place we enjoyed more. Our server was very attentive and took perfect care of us. CR has always been on our list, but quickly moved to the top of our list after our experience last week. To guage how well we enjoyed our service and meal at CR, let me say we ate at the following places last week:

California Grill, Citricos, Narcossees, YachSteakhouse, LeCellier-twice, the Wave, Turf Club, GF Cafe, 50s PrimeTime, WCC, B&C.

OP, it really sounds like someone at the front desk messed up.

I totally understand the need to vent. And I don't blame you for being upset, I was upset just reading about what happened to you. There's too much to do and so little time, it can't be wasted sitting waiting on a table ( especially since it was so obvious by the fact that others were being seated ahead of you that there were table available).:mad::mad:
