We are reading some mixed reviews this evening. Also, please share if you are a dedicated foodie, or just someone looking for a good meal, or someone just looking for food! LOL

I enjoy good food and our meal at Coral Reef last trip was just fine!! The fish tank was intersting as well...

I enjoy a good meal (and sometimes I can enjoy fast food).

My lunch at Coral Reef was very good! I had the diver's special (or something like it), which came with choice between lobster bisque (what I got) or salad, baked potato with shrimp (my choice) or a classic reuben sandwich and cheesecake.

I enjoyed my lunch very much, and the fish kept me entertained (I was there by myself)

I will certainly return in the future!

IMO the biggest reason for mixed reviews is the price structure. View a menue in advance and you will not be dissapointed. We enjoy this restaurant and we are returning in Auguast.

I was a bit concerned when I went because I had read mixed reviews, but really wanted to eat with the fish. The interior is cool and dimly lit, which is nice on a hot day, and the aquarium is awesome :goodvibes . My DH and I both had the chicken, and it was delicious. Moist and tender. Can't remember what it came with. My DS had the mac and cheese off the children's menu, and he said it was the best he's ever had, so we have to go back there our next time. No argument from us :thumbsup2 !

WOW - SOUNDS GREAT - HOPE THE SPECIAL IS AVAILABLE THIS JUNE :thumbsup2

We went there on our honeymoon trip a few weeks ago and loved it. I had read bad reviews also but the food was really good and I really cant really say anything bad.

We got special menus and were right next to the tank, so that made everything better also.

not a big foodie, but like a good meal. (and fun atmosphere while at wdw)

this is a must do for our family. This will be our 6th trip and we have never had a bad meal here. The atmosphere is wonderful too. I always get the lobster bisque or i believe there is a seafood chowder that I sometimes get.
The chocolate wave is a great desert. If you love chocolate dont miss it.

Dedicated Foodies here, and no picky eaters (even the kids). So we love love love the Coral Reef. Things are really fresh and well-prepared, and done in an imaginative way. The waitstaff is as into the food (and wine) as we are, and have always been helpful and efficient (tho sometimes it takes a while to get the final bill). The wine list is also excellent, with a lot of things we hadn't had before, along with a waitstaff that can give good wine pairing advice. The atmosphere is amazing; tho some insist on being right up next to the tank, we have yet to sit at a bad table at the Coral Reef.

All this being said, however, it is certainly not for everyone. If you have picky eaters in your crew, the menu is Very Limited (of course they stick to things that are in season and that they can cook well). It is not simple, and it is not cheap (both things I appreciate in other restaurants). It can take a while to get seated also, since there just aren't that many tables (and a small subset of those are right up next to the tank). It is not something you can do quickly.
Just so you're forewarned.

We love it though, and hope you will too.

We've been to the coral reef on numerous occasions and have always loved it. We love our food especially with dh being a chef himself. The last time we visited we took my parents and DH wasn't as impressed, I think he had lamb but can't quite remember. We are not put off visiting again as the rest of us had a great meal and the service was excellent. We will back again with the rest of our family (all 10 of us) in Oct. Hope this helps. Maria

Is dress casual? Just want to make sure that we would be ok wearing typical theme park wear (shorts, t-shirts, etc). ;)

The food was very good I had the mushroom soup, the grilled chicken breast, and cheese cake and liked all of it! Looking at the menu a lot of items were very pricey but with the DDP who needs to look at prices! Oh and the dress is casual I dressed exactly how I would for a normal day at the park!

Great, I had decided not to dine here because of the bad reviews on allearsnet, but now after reading this I may add it to our list! :)

I would have to agree...if you know the menu before you go, you will be less shocked. We are definite foodies, and the atmosphere in the restaurant makes for a fun meal...not the best food in the world, but a fun time. DW and I went a couple of years ago, and are thinking about brining DS this time. I think it makes for a better deal if you are on a dining plan, is it is only 1 TS credit, which I think is more appropriate.
