Coral reef diver_when to ask?

How far in advance should I contact Coral reef about the diver for a birthday.I have and ADR already booked for the 5th of October.

I booked one in February for an upcoming trip in July. I figured if I've gone to the effort to plan all the ADR's so far in advance that I might as well plan and guarantee everything else early too.

We'll be at Coral Reef on DS's 5th bday. I've seen pics of the diver with a little sign, but how does it work? Do they call you over to the tank to see him? And is there a fee? I did mention we'd be celebrating a bday when I made the ADR, but I'm guessing that still means I'd need to "request" the diver?

EDIT: I called and left a msg to request a sign. I'll keep my fingers crossed until then.

We have the diver for my son's 4th b-day in May. We reserved this by calling the coral reef to order his b-day cake....and it's free....I couldn't believe it. I was also told to mention that we have the diver when we check in and they will do their best to get us seated close to the glass. I am really excited about this, can't wait to see how it goes!

I literally hung up making ADR and called the Restaurant. Talked to cast member Debbi who was awesome! I will probably call back a week or so before our trip when I call to verify all ADR's and verify that she still has us on the list.

I would like to know the phone number as well...I've triied calling a couple times through Disney Dining, but got disconnected during the transfer.

Debbi said no charge at all. She also gave me her email address and said if I emailed her pictures they would make a special menu for dh.

They came over to us and waved at our DS and it was cool.

I would make ADR's, call the restaurant now and then check back a few times much closer to your arrival. I would also reconfirm the same day.

I am a super planner and I always assume that somebody has forgotten to WRITE IT DOWN!!
