Just curious if anyone has ever tried to order the Appetizer for 2 at the Coral Reef as their entree on the DDP??? I'm guessing that they would not allow this, since it is "for 2", but it is consistent price wise with some of the other entree offerings.

Haven't tried it and it doesn't hurt to ask, but Disney is pretty strict with the DP on the ordering of something designed for 2 .

It will depend on the manager and the staff on the day.
You will just need to ask. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a written rule.

I've heard of people doing this at Kouzzinna (The mezza for 2) and I asked if that was an option and was told they could do it. Of course I could have gone back the next day and been told no.
I have also heard of this being done at California Grille with the sushi appetizer.

I think it may also depend on whether you are going to share an appetizer and an entrée or if you are having the appetizer as your meal.
One of the reason they no longer include an appetizer is to increase the turnaround of tables.
If you are sharing it as an appetizer it means you will be at the table longer.

We ordered the "Surf & Turf appetizer for 2" at Coral Reef a while back. It was exactly two shrimps and two one-inch square pieces of beef. It would not be a decent entree for a child -- let alone two adults! And, dh and I eat light meals and often share.

We recently shared the appetizer platter at Kouzinna as our entree and it was fine for two since we also had a couple of soups, the pita bread platter with dipping sauces, a couple of desserts and some wine -- so appetizers for two can work as entrees, but certainly not the one we were served at Coral Reef!

Besides, if you are on the dining plan it would appear that you are not interested in ordering other food to supplement, as you would have to pay out of pocket for it.

The answer to this will probably come down to the "for two" designation. Everything's different on the dining plan. If you were paying OOP it would not be a problem, but because it's the dining plan there's no way to know unless you ask. Even if someone here has done it before, the server you get could still tell you "no" because there's no written rule on it. The price comparison generally isn't relevant on the dining plan.
